Am I boned? iPhone 6 here. Yes, it is old. No, it is not a 6s, it is just a 6.
This started randomly last night. It will take 5 clicks to get a number or letter to select. It randomly zooms in. If I'm texting or typing, it will randomly click letters that I am no where near. It doesn't matter if I'm plugged in or not. I'm on the most recent update. I have cleaned the case, as sometimes that impacts it, but it doesn't matter if it is in the case or not. I've also done the power+home key reset.
Any ideas?
buy a used 7 and sell the 6.

As an old guy that thinks this whole smartphone fad is an ill-conceived mess, I often find that the screen on my Moto has a mind of its own, dialing people to whom I do not wish to speak, leaping to incorrect conclusions about my choice of words, and otherwise behaving like an unruly child.
How much could I sell the iPhone 6 with a not-quite working screen for?
SE would be nice, but I just bought one for my wife. I'd have to be looking used. Hell, I wouldn't mind getting an old school flip phone, if I could just have iMessage on it.

Are you sure that you haven't accidentally changed some accessibility setting of some sort? I'd look through the settings menus.

Yes, this is a hardware malfunction.
So, we sold the pair of iPhail 6 in Feb for $200. Both scratched up, functioning but both had quickly dying batteries. I'd say you could still get $75 for yours. It still works, just glitches. I bought our 8's on eBay from a really great seller there, "supplytronics". Had an issue where one wouldn't start (dead battery I'm guessing). I emailed them, 5 minutes later I had a packing slip, prepaid postage and a return form in my email from them. I sent it back and a week later I had it with another battery, new home button and working. REALLY good customer service.
Have you done a hard reboot on it? My 6 was doing something similar on the top half of the screen recently and a hard reboot took care of it.
Press and hold the power and home button until it power off and the Apple logo reappears on the screen.
Since this is GRM if the above hard reboot doesn't do it and you really want to see how far along you can push your old 6 the screens/digitizers aren't that difficult to replace on these (and you could throw in a new battery while you are in there). It's all just tiny screws and connectors but it is pretty straight forward, just take care that the right screws (that 0.2 of a mm can make a difference) go back in the right holes and if something is giving you trouble while you are reassembling it take a hard look to make sure you are putting it back together right. If you buy a screen with an included touch sensor you will lose your touch unlocking (can't remember what that is called), you can transfer your old button over though which will work.

I knew my 6 inside and out and had it apart many times, I even pulled apart my friends 6 and the kitchen table after dinner with a pocket knife after it had an unexpected bath. I'm more intimidated by the replacement 11 but at some point it will likely come apart too.
I'd check if the 6 has the fingerprint sensor married to the main board, if that is the case be very careful to keep your old fingerprint sensor when changing out the screen.

I replaced the battery and rear cover on my 8. Never ever ever ever again. I replaced the battery on my 6 once. It was fine.

Possible to upgrade the iOS? That's always their first solution at the Apple store at least.
I've used Swappa and Gazelle for my phone replacements (and disposals). Swappa is individual sellers, Gazella is a single company that flips them. Prices are somewhat similar and Swappa has handy charts for it but Gazelle does model-specific sales and a few months ago I got a 1st gen 64GB SE for $63 shipped.
And yeah, I do NOT have surgeons hands. Intricate parts replacing in these devices is a hassle with these glove holders.
