From a news headline:
xQc banned again from GTA RP NoPixel after drama with “encouraging” chat hoppers.
I have no idea what any part of that sentence means.

Age has some to do with it, but bigger than that its a pretty tight niche thing.
xQc is a Twitch streamer, one of the guys that plays video games and does commentary while he plays. That's niche one.
GTA is Grand Theft Auto online, a massive online multiplayer kind of thing. Niche two
RP is "role playing" Generally people get on the game and do whatever with no regard for what the game is or what the other players are doing. The RP is when you get into the game and pretend to actually be a citizen of the city. You walk everywhere, or drive your own car (while following the traffic laws and such) and pretend to be a banker or an engineer or a cop or whatever. (This, I 100% don't get. I play games to get away from real life.) Niche 3
NoPixel is just a server name. It has certain rules that you have to follow to be a "citizen" of the city. Not really a niche, just a detail
Finally you've got chat hopping, which goes back to niche one. xQc was doing something that broke the rules of the server, so the "cops" "arrested" him and put him "in jail" (which, I think, basically means they banned him from the server for a certain amount of time.) He had his twitch viewers jump from his chat stream to the GTA NoPixel chat and complain to the admins about xQc's treatment. This flooded the moderator's and admin's accounts with spam and for that xQc was kicked off the server for good. Niche 3.5 cause it wasn't really its own niche.
Now, you ask me, none of what happened is worth the time that I put into that response.
I may be old, but stupid crap like this has been happening on the Internet since the days of usenet groups.
Nobody cared then. Nobody cares now.

I understood none of that headline but I realize that's exactly the level of understanding many people would have reading some grm thread titles.
We're all just our own type of nerds.

Can't dispute that, but it's Dork, please.

Probably the best way to put it.

That's a weird niche. Isn't the whole point of Grand Theft Auto so you can act like a complete sociopath in an environment where the consequences are never worse than waking up in the hospital with a little less money?
In reply to MadScientistMatt :
Some people have such tediously boring lives that they'd rather pretend GTA is Second Life.
I don't really understand it, especially with as horribly programmed as NPCs and cops are, but 2 console generations ago when the game came out it was a decent city simulator.
Having kids is the best way to keep in touch with "youth culture." If you ask the right questions, you can find out all sorts of strange things.

Sorry for the rant:
This is most definitely NOT NEWS!
It's a bit of silly twattle that infotainment companies like to roll out to distract us from the crazy E36 M3 that's actually going on.

That guy with an LS swapped FD was banned from the HSSC AX because he overdrive and took out all of the cones in the Chicago box a few times last event.
Can you read that sentence and understand what's being said? What about your coworker who isn't into cars? Every subculture is going to have a vocabulary that sounds foreign to outsiders.

Agreed. Play long enough and you start wanting to do other things in the game, I guess.
