So the shower started dripping from the faucet. I t uses a Delta cartridge valve. Seems like a simple enough contraption and I went ahead and installed a rebuild kit provided by Home Depot and then an entire new valve when neither made a difference.
What am I missing? The faucet is still dripping.

Did the valve housing appear corroded? Did you clean it out well? I'm assuming the kit included grease?
Ive seen them bad right out of the box before.

Grease? Only grease I am aware of is what I shoulda brung when I found out how much the new valve cost. I did make a point of wetting the o rings down before I inserted the cartride.
Any point in pulling it out and smearing some silicone grease on the o-rings?

I would. Make sure everything is clean and well lubed. If it continues to drip I'd take the new cartridge back as defective.
Did you rebuild the existing cartridge or buy the new $50 cartridge? And did you get the Delta brand or Danco?
And yes, it definitely needs some plumbers grease applied liberally on all the o-rings, or it will not set well.
Also, make sure the brass valve area is clean and smooth and that the cartridge is installed firmly. I've done several of those Deltas at work and haven't had a problem, but you could've gotten a bad one.

The last Delta I installed from Home Depot dripped right out of the box. Took a good look at the cartridge and it was used. Somebody bought the valve, swapped old cartridge for new cartridge and returned the valve with the used cartridge installed. Never trust anything from the big box stores without looking it over.
