I use craignotifica on Android, I'm not sure if there is something similar for iPhone but it does exactly what you want.

Do a CL search you want to re-run in a browser on your phone. In the bottom right of the results I think you'll see a little orange box with the letter RSS in it. If you click that, I bet you'll get a couple of options for what you want to use to subscribe to that RSS feed (RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication).

I don't use my phone for RSS, but I have several CL searches in my Google Reader, where I also subscribe to a few blogs.

Sorry I don't have an iPhone-specific walkthrough; I don't know whether there's a default RSS app already installed or whether that's something you'll have to go grab.

There is a nice CL app for the iPhone/iPad, it's a good interface. Looks like an old newspaper. You can save searches and search across multiple locales easily. It won't push new results to you, but it's easy to check. Available in free and paid versions. Published by Lifelike Apps.

The Android craigslist reader has extremely good push notifications. I was getting notifications within 30 seconds of an ad matching my search being posted.

iPhone not so much. This may have changed though. I think an RSS reader that updates automatically with push notifications would do the trick quite nicely.

Which Android CL reader are you using? There are a fair handful of CL apps...

Does that give notifications when something you are looking for shows up?
