+1 for swapping them to Cat6. You can also run HDMI over Cat6.

I don't think so. Even if you do still have a landline, you can get one of those multi-headset cordless phones where only the base station needs to be plugged in. So the most would need is one.

That's what I have , it takes up to 5 cordless phones so I can "misplace" one or 2 and still have a few more ,

you can also get charging bases only to leave around the house or garage

Last time we had a land line was 2008. My wife insisted on one for hurricanes or something.

all my kids have phones or kid safe phone alternatives. I have a phone. Wife has a phone.

Why do I need more phones?

Do any phone companies even still use copper for anything? I thought all the land lines were VOIP now.

I'd just leave the connection where it comes into the house, on the very extremely rare chance you may need one in the future. Screw the rest of the house, especially with the new style hand sets these days.

We dropped a hardline about 7-8years ago.

All of our phone jacks were wired with Cat5 and only used 2 of the 4 twisted pairs. I am in the process of switching all of the phone jacks to ethernet jacks and adding a few more because my family complains about the wifi connections. I have the patch panel and switch ready to install so the router can handle everything and I can add remote wifi repeaters where they are needed. This is how I plan to spend my Christmas break.
