And one part of my character that people find off-putting is my need to be correct, and then to point out repeatedly when I am correct. Its not a character trait that I am particularly proud of, but at 52, it doesn't seem to be going away.

Having said that, I quote myself from last years F1 thread:

Vettel and Schumachers stats to age 24 were compared on the BBC coverage we get in Canada. Vettel is miles ahead on age, roughly tied based on races run.

Mr Newey doesn't build and prep his cars in a vacuum. Without intelligent input from the drivers, you wind up sucking.

I don't think Vettel is the second coming, but you gotta be nuts to think he's not the real deal. I would wager, though, this same conversation will happen next year when he's a two time champion, well on his way to a third.

Good job, Seb. All in all, an excellent season, with some really interesting races. Goofy rules, but by God, they sure did work.

Jerk and F1 in the same sentence?

I am not a F1 fan but from watching Wind Tunnel all last year, all you would ever hear about is Vettel. I am sure its not just because they like to say his name.

You could tell he was taking it smart today and not pushing it when not needed. I bet Alonso was just hoping Button and/or Vettel would get caught up in traffic and get taken out or have a mechanical.

Well I'm conflicted. I hate Alonso but love Ferrari. I also hate Red Bull but love Vettel. I guess I'm indifferent about it. I'm just glad it was an interesting race.

Yeah, I have to admit I was wrong. I was in the camp that said Vettel was crazy fast but didn't have any racecraft. He sure proved me wrong today!

Otherwise, as a McLaren fan and a Hamilton fan, since it became apparent McL wouldn't win the Championship, I've been more focused upon "the split". At least the team has a sense of humor about it..here's "Tooned" episode 12.

I dont' like Alonso's personality, but I do think he is a great driver. Especially how well he has done this year considering the Ferrari wasn't near the car as the RedBull or Mclaren. If he hadn't been taken out in those 2 back to back races, he would have won this year.

Vettle is a great driver though, I'm not doubting that. But I kinda feel like rooting for RedBull is like rooting for the Yankees these days They've got the best car on the grid, so anyone who drives for them will be in the top runners.

This season was by far the best I can remember, which doesn't say much since I've only been following for about 5 years now, but we went how long without a repeat winner? Eight races?

I won't lie, I damn near cried when the Hulkenberg spun. I was really hoping to see them win. The race today was one of the more exciting ones I had seen in awhile, which really worries me about NBC's coverage next year.

Give me live coverage, or give me death.

I don't think the spin was completely his fault. It was reported he was having harsh downshifting issues. You could see when he spun, the rear just stepped out as if the rear wheels locked up, like locking up the brakes on a go-kart mid turn-in.

In reply to CGLockRacer:

I agree. Plus the caterham kinda 'shut the door' on him and you could see him try to avoid him in the replay. Just a very unfortunate chain of events in that one corner. I would have loved to see him win it.

That was the best Tooned yet. I loved it.

I've only seen the first half of the Brazilian race (Hulkenberg is still out front), but holy cow that's one fantastic race.

Brasil was a fantastic race and a fitting end for a great season.

I'm a Button fan so his win was good. I'm not an Alonso/Ferrari fan but they both earned more of respect because they performed above their weight level. I like Vettel; he doesn't come across as the Teutonic twit that was a young Schumi. His third straight WDC is a phenomenal achievement.

If 2013 is as competitive a lot of people will be happy, unless they are a Hambone fan.
