Drake: my name is Drake and I'm here to say, let's insult Kendrick in a crazy way!

Kendrick: you're a deadbeat dad that chases children and your entire inner circle is not only leaking information to me but is also actively praying for your demise

Rap beef diss tracks, not quite as fun as race tracks. Drake is trash.

Quoted for truth. Also Eazy E's Real Motherberkeleying G's is a top notch diss track.

I definitely tend to gravitate more towards the Billy Woods/IDK/Noname/Shabazz Palaces blend of less mainstream hip hop, but sometimes you just have to step back and enjoy the ridiculously one-sided roast of an annoying celeb who is basically the Wal-Mart of rappers.

On that note, Billy Woods has a very GRM track on his last album:

Rap battles are just two men writing poetry to each other.

And I'm not even impressed by that.

Pissing contests are the main reason I hate rap. And I love hiphop, so it ain't the music.

You never heard much about battles between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Come on, hip hop/rap has been around for like 40 years now and some of us just enjoy seeing an annoying clown get his due.

Do you ride into the sports trash talk thread on that high horse to say people's lives have gone wrong too? It's one thing to say something is just not for you, but come on man...

Also, there are plenty of non-rap diss tracks too!

  • The Damned - Idiot Box (the band Television)

  • Plastic Ono Band - How Do You Sleep (Paul McCartney)
  • Collective Soul - Smashing Young Man (Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins)
  • Tori Amos - Professional Widow (Courtney Love)

Etc, etc...

Sorry, it's just frustrating that instead of being allowed to enjoy a pretty funny and non-violent rap feud with other people who are into it, more and more people feel the need to come into this thread and announce that this sort of thing is beneath them instead of just...not participating in the banter.

We were all just laughing amongst ourselves about the beef at first, now it's just people taking turns passing judgment on those of us who were enjoying it. This is why we can't have nice things...

I think I'm more impressed grown adults actually give a E36 M3 about pseudocelebs and what they're up to. I know tmz keeps the lights on somehow, although I've never understood that either.

A rap beef without bulletproofed cars and rolling 30 deep to your own show is like a drag race without parachutes, sure it counts, but are you really trying?

Like whoever the hell wound up in my FB feed a couple weeks ago "feuding" by unfollowing each other on Instagram. That's a feud now? MC Hammer and 50 Cent would like to say a few words about feuding.

Edit: oh it was Drake and the thief who stole Freeway Ricky Ross' identity to become a rapper

I guess the message is clear, the Kendrick-Drake feud isn't violent enough to be taken seriously, but rap feuds in general are too violent with too much dick-swinging depending on who you ask, but universally those of us who enjoy the back-and-forth are idiots.

Ugh, this kind of dynamic is why I left Facebook. You can't just enjoy something without multiple people showing up to tell you you're dumb for enjoying it. I should just not wade into Off Topic here anymore, it has basically become GRM's own little Facebook.
