Job ain't in the bag, as said earlier I think I may be in the top 3-4 of eight applicants. Thing is every applicant has something to bring, who has the most and what is management really looking for. Five of eight are near my age +/-. I think the welder is a shoe in, leaves one spot open.

Interview in the morning.

Interview went rather well I thought. They were ten minutes late coming in but we went 15 minutes over the 30 minute scheduled time. I already knew them both and the interview was held in the boiler house at the operators desk so I was pretty darn comfortable, even had my old operators chair.

Aside from the stupid HR type questions we cut to the chase w/ trade experience. I probably had more experience in each category than they were really looking for. Not listed before but they added welding and snow removal. They thought I was pretty rounded out and I'd consider myself in the running yet, at least I didn't bomb after only 5 hours sleep.

Only downside was prefacing the interview with 'you know there's going to be static' over the trade reduction and creating this position. Seven trade jobs lost besides us three operators, only adding two new positions. Union will definitely be involved at that point. They reiterated that again later so it's real.

I'll know win or lose in 2-3 days.

Sounds better than my luck went the last few times. I absolutely bombed two interviews.

Best of luck to you.I hope you don't get caught up in politics of the situation.

I hate being out of work.

Just got a call from site manager and alas did not get the job.

As I predicted to my boiler house co-worker just yesterday, the welder and a laborer got the two positions, they are both suck asses btw. We thought it was already in the bag from the get go, the other interviews were just protocol/ formalities.

No regrets at all for applying. I could do the work no doubt but every time I thought of it my gut would get unsettled. When I said berkeley to it all I was totally relaxed again. That was the correct answer win or lose.

Site manager actually saved me a call, I needed all his contact info for my unemployment claim.

Off for the summer... yessss.

Late night movies and up at the crack o' noon.
