Yeah. I don't follow football. I took advantage of the game to ride the motorcycle around town before the weather went to E36 M3.

All my car friends are in Columbus. Lots of interesting things done with turbos and CIS and other weirdness.

One thing I hated about Columbus was the (relatively) high cost of living. Apartments were about double what it'd be up here, and it seems like the nicest parts of town are worse than a middling-E36 M3ty part of Cleveland.

(You should have seen the look on my boss's face when I told him that, at one friend's shop, they leave the hoods of cars unlatched, because thieves will take a recip saw to the hood to open it up and get the battery out for the $8 core)

Ohio Valley Region SCCA Autocross is decent and getting better. They've been slowly putting some of the... zealous... types that were killing it out to pasture. They are hurting for sites at the moment.

The OSU Ackerman Lot is under constant threat, due to proximity to grad student housing and the university selling the administration of campus parking to a third party. Their other site is National Trail Raceway in Hebron, which isn't a great site and is a pretty decent drive depending on what part of town you live in (it would still be the best site in Pittsburgh though).

I usually autocross with NWOR in Toledo. The Toledo Express Airport is easily the third best site in the national (behind Lincoln and brand new Wilmington, which is in Daytona and ahead of Grissom, which is just across the border in Indiana, but heavily features tornados). 2014 SCCA National Solo schedule has five events at these three sites, making the general Great Lakes area probably the best place to live for an autocrosser in the country.

As others have mentioned, Mid-Ohio is just up the road, and is freaking awesome. You can go to Nelson Ledges as well, if you hate your life and your car, and Pittsburgh Int'l (formerly BeaveRun) isn't too far either.

WTF is with all the berkeleying hipsters? I have never seen this many anywhere I have been on the west coast, including Eugene OR.

Um.....microbrewery in Columbus.......I bet you're near the university. You do realize that trends arrive in the midwest a few years after they do on the coasts. I'd guess the hipster scene is not as played out in Ohio.

Lots of stuff to do in the U district.....I saw B.B. King play at a club in that area.

Yup. Up on 4th just above the university and short north. Never seen such horrendously stereotypical hipsters.

Were you at seventh son?

There are quite a few hipsters in that area.

Yup. Waxed mustaches, skinny jeans, and one guy with a rhinestoned brass-knuckle necklace.

It's the most 'hip' city in the state with the most money near a university. You'll have that. If you come to a dirtbag town like Toledo I can show you a bar where you brain will go into hipster overload. I tend to ignore and avoid places like those.

Let me know when you get a fairly steady schedule and I'll see when I can make it down there. You live near a girl I know down there.
