So I recently got a hold of a used BADLAND 2500 lb. ATV/Utility Winch, unfortunately it does not come with the remote which is missing, I see there are available replacements through ebay/amazon. Anyways I would like to set it up so I can lift my karts towards the ceiling and create more space. During the offseason space is not a big deal because I just take the engines off and stand them upright however during the season they are constantly in the way and my wife can barely pick them up to help me put them on a stand to work on them. The ceiling is high enough in the garage that I can almost walk underneath, a car will not be parked underneath but safety is critical as I have kids.

Just wanted to get some feedback from the hive. I found a couple of designs that are intriguing:

I don’t really need sliders but cool none the less https://youtu.be/_tbhI9cflN8

More crude but gets the job done

I like that he has safety straps incase something happens

I like the pullies and how its structurally designed, but I rather have it clipped in rather then on a platform because it would be easy just to unclip on and off the floor or kart stand.

I don't like a lot of those designs. Hoists are not meant to hold a charge long term. That's like working on a car supported only with the jack.

The only design that seems acceptable to me is the one with the safety straps. But it would be better with a system that wouldn't force you to walk under the load to reach the straps.
