In the shortest form, Keybase is a service that tries to solve the problem of PGP key exchange and verification.
Going a little further, it makes a good landing page for your online identities, it does solid end-to-end encrypted chat, file sharing, and even includes 10GiB of storage, the public side of which is web-accessible. I find it to be my favorite place to put photos for my posts here, since it doesn't try to replace my images with a landing page, slideshow, or try to redirect to an advertisement.
Speaking of, it's not mine, and I'm not affiliated. The service is in beta right now. You can get on a waiting list (that's how I got in) or you can get an invite. I have some invites if someone here would like one. I'll just post them up in response to requests.
Interesting, I'd give it a try! My email is my username at gmail.

interested too. greg at gregorywsmith dot commercial(or the short version thereof)
I'm also interested, especially because I can use it on all three platforms! kyle@myusername.com
EDIT: Apparently you don't need an invite to get in? I just went to the website and signed up!

Uhh...
They do open signups sometimes. I mostly stay logged in. I had no idea.
Well, awesome!
Would it be better to do this on a phone or tablet or Mac or no difference?

I'd suggest Mac. There is a mobile app coming.
Keybase=This version of MacOS is not supported (10.9)!

10.9 is pretty old. Apple generally only provides security updates for the current and last two releases. That's 10.10, 10.11 and 10.12. If you're able, I'd suggest that, regardless of whether you want to try keybase.
First, this is a zombie thread.
Keybase eventually evolved to have a cryptocurrency wallet, there was a promotional airdrop of some crypto (Stellar Lumens) into that wallet in an effort to kickstart the project. There was some criteria to try to keep bot farms from double-dipping, and that probably includes being a somewhat active user. I know one person who signed up, forgot about the account, and did not get the drop.
Anyhow, those free Stellar Lumens are massively up in value. For the amounts included in the air drop, it's not like "buy your own island up," but maybe Lemons car and a U-Haul tow dolly rental.
If you signed up way back when and met the account eligibility requirements, it might be worth opening the app and looking around.
That's why I'm bumping this zombie thread.
