How could something with such potential for awesomeness, be such a letdown? Some smart person said I want a bacon and cheese sandwich, but I'm trying to cut down on carbs so I'll use two pieces of fried chicken for the bread. KFC took the idea and ran with it, however they managed to screw it up. Note, the following review is for the Original Recipe version, not the Grilled. Mistake number one, they used the Original Recipe. The OR is waaaay too salty, in fact all you taste is salt with a hint of pepper. This creation needs the Extra Crispy. Mistake number two, there's not enough bacon. I watched them make mine and all I got was one measly little strip of limp bacon torn in half. Needs more crispy bacon. Mistake number 3, it's a bad sign when the best part of the combo meal is the fries. Mistake number 4 there's not enough bacon. While not an epic fail, it is a fail nonetheless. I don't think this will be on the menu board for long.
I'll be the dissenting opinion. I absolutely loved it. My only complaints were it did indeed need more bacon, it's crazy expensive, and i was sad when i when i finished it.

It's abominations like this that make me proud to be a vegetarian.
how are you cutting down on carbs, using breaded and fried chicken?
While I embrace my omnivorism wholeheartedly, I agree with Jay, that is an abomination that... GASP...moar bakun cannot fix.
never thought Id see those words in print

The added grease allow the carbs slide through your body like a sluce.

This is basically all fast food and lot's of restaurant food. I can't even eat anything more than Subway/Lenny's when it comes to fast food because the over the top amount of salt in everything.
And most restaurants around here get one visit, because the food is so terrible. There are less than 6 restaurants in the Tulsa area I've been to more than once in the last two years.
I lol'd when I saw the commercial for the first time. Someone made a fast food sandwich and forgot the bread! And replaced it with greasy chicken so your hands will get so greasy you'll need Lava soap to get them clean again. Yay!
Yea, I won't be trying one. Now, make it with two strip steaks on either side, THAT I'll try. But that's not really KFC's thing...

KFC's "Thing" is cole slaw. Those people have NO business near a chicken.
my boss offered to buy me one for lunch...I turned it down. I think he wants to see me have a heart attack.
I have a friend buying me one on thursday, he suggested I fast to prepare... I think he wants to dip it in mash potatoes or something.
anywhere I can get an preemptive angioplasty without going to china?

KFC is awful. For everything. If you want chain chicken, go to Popeyes, Churches, or Browns (it depends which one is cleanest in your area).
If you want the best chicken in the world, bar none, go to Rips chicken in Ladd IL.

The Double Down is ranked as 23 on this websites 40 deadliest fast food meals.
Interestingly on this list 4 White Castle Burgers comes in at #9. Just about every double burger comes in as worse.
If you had not guessed the worst is..."The Bacon-ator"

lawlz.
If I ever eat one, I might just eat it WHILE on the toilet... Probably the safest bet.
ugh I will NEVER eat one of those things
a friend just waited 45mins in line for one and pronounced himself quite happy. so much for fast food.
Not to do with taste, but I find it .....laughable(?), that in an area where obesity is a BIG problem, we can buy this "sandwich", but we CAN'T get KFC's GRILLED chicken.
1 more reason why southwestern Tn/this tri-state area sucks.
this from Hardies is WAY better

Most of my food used to be a vegetarian.
Besides, cows are plants, you can hunt them with a hammer.

I'm more of a Bojangles fan personally, but I'd eat one w/o the cheese. Now if they would throw a slab of cheddar or Swiss on and use extra crispy they'd have something. Their grilled chicken isn't half bad, the original recipe is too much grease even for me. Love the coleslaw.
