JG did raise a good point: KITT can really only solve crime committed in places that have roads. I said that was nonsense.

No, the saddest wheels on the planet came a little later, when GM was in its "Lets tattoo all the copy from the sales brochure directly on every surface of the car" phase.
I almost bought a Trans Am around 1991 that had a KITT uh...kit installed. The broken t-top that was completely broke in half and siliconed back together scared me away.
They do show the original Knight Rider episodes on G4TV at noon eastern time.
