We've got some friends in Kent OH and we're outside Macon GA. We're talking about meeting more-or-less halfway for a long weekend camping in mid April. We're looking for campsites suitable for tent camping, but with power on site and restroom facilities in the campground. We'd like to be on a good sized lake so we can take the boat and cruise, ideally being able to keep the boat beached at the site or on a slip, not back on the trailer each night. Must also be pet friendly.

Area is flexible as long as it's about equal distance between Macon and Kent.

Just a few from Google. Smith Mountain Lake in VA, just north of Danville, I grew up sailing on this lake, plus the original Dirty Dancing was partially filmed there. Lake Douglas in Dandridge TN (haven't been there, but looks big) or search Norris Dam, it's on the French Broad River just north of Oak Ridge TN, it is an amazing network of water from the satellite images. I've camped there, walked on the dam and fished from shore. Plus take a break and go learn about atomic bombs.

Not in the area you are looking and probably too far out of your way, but Lake Jocassee in north western SC is outstanding. By far my favorite lake for camping. High in the mountains, cold, beautiful, great camping including camping spots only accessible by boat.

Devils Fork State Park is the campground. A lot of the lake is inside the Nantahala National Forest and is uninhabited so it doesn't have a shore line full of docks and million dollar houses.

Lake Anna, Christopher Run Campground. Decent spot, been there with friends many times. Lake Anna is very big.

South Holston Lake near Bristol has campgrounds scattered around it. There's a smaller lake (Wautaga) nearby Elizabethton TN that has a few campgrounds. I haven't lived down there for over 30 years, so can't really recommend a specific one. But it's a scenic area. I've camped at Claytor Lake state park in Va., and it was good. Smith Mtn. Lake is a beautiful area.

Central and eastern Tennessee has a few lakes that meet that criteria.
