Last night we finally watched Le Mans with Steve McQueen. Easily the best racing movie ever, mostly because it is all great racing scenes of classic cars racing a classic race, yada, yada, yada - you've heard it all before.
As I'm providing explanation to my two daughters as to what is what and who's on first, we get to the start (of the race). Daughter #2 (2-1/2) hops off the couch and starts yelling GO CARS GO! over and over again, with a periodic YAY CARS!, with my 6 y.o. daughter joining in.
Warmed the cam lobes of my heart. Hopefully I can get them out to the garage with me if I can ever get back there. My wife said we might have to watch it again in case we missed any dialogue. The cheering went on for a while.
As a funny aside- my wife said "[Steve McQueen] is a lot more mysterious when he doesn't talk". I think McQueen has about six lines out of the entire 10 line movie. See, I told you it was good- it is all done with scenes of race cars, and doesn't waste much time on that silly "dialogue" stuff. Hard to hear over the 8,000 RPM music anyway....
aww haha that's cute. Always great to start em young!McQueen's the man!
My wife thought that she might have bought the "French" language version of the movie. I had to wait 15min to until we found out it was in English! Great film.
did they ask if he was related ot Lightning McQueen?

...and one of those lines is "When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting", which is one of the most gangsta lines in film history.

Did you have to explain the "reverse peace" sign at the end?
I think Grand Prix is a better movie. Though maybe not for kids, it's too long.

No, but my wife did ask if that is why "Lightning" got his name.

I think all the other lines were just background noise for this line. It sums up the film.
And Mental- luckily they were in bed by the final scene so I didn't have to!
Regarding the cars destroyed in films thread- this one was full of good cars exploding into bad pieces.
Now I have to put Grand Prix in the queue, dang it
