I know very little. I understand the concept that it's a web log of information. In my limited knowledge, it's almost like a public diary of sorts. Gives someone the opportunity to spew forth ideas, complaints, rants, raves, etc. ad naseum. It's possible to gather an "audience" of like minded crazies to follow your blog and, possibly, react to it.

Here's what I'm looking for. I have some ideas and random thoughts that I just want to record as my days go on. Sometimes about politics or about personal struggles or work silliness or whatever. I only want it for me, I don't want to make it public, per se.

The only reason I'm thinking about a blog is so I can access it anywhere. At home, at work, on my cell, on my iPad, etc. So, I guess I want to use a "blogging" site. I have a domain, but it's actually for my son's racing, so I don't want to spoil it with my insanity.

I don't interact with people all that much outside of what's required for my work. When I do talk to a friend (of which I really have none, anymore) or co-worker or random people on the internet, I start to get VERY wordy (kinda like this post) and drain the life out of them because I have an outlet for my thoughts and can't slow them down.

I'm hoping that I can release those thoughts somewhere constructive rather than dumping them on unsuspecting people.

So, is there a free blogging site out there that's dead simple to use where I could release this madness? Or, is there a blog app or something that would work across multiple platforms? One that would post when it gets an internet connection would be a huge bonus, but not a requirement.

The blog I write for uses Wordpress. It's almost like a super forum posting tool. It is pretty cool once you mess around with it. You can use it for free, but there are paid options available as well. I'd check that out.

Blog implies publishing. WordPress is great, and WordPress posts don't have to be public.

You might consider something else if you're just writing for you.

Note taking apps like Evernote, Google Keep or Microsoft OneNote are good. They're online, and you can publish or share some of your content from there, but that's not the focus. I think these might align with your use case a little better.

The big question is - do you want the content to be readable by people who somehow stumble across it, or do you want it to be private?

For the former, a free blog at WordPress.com is the easy button. For the latter, any note taking app or Google docs will do the job nicely.

You'll need to log in to post.
