Most of you are familiar with the purchase of my newest vehicle, miyuki the corolla wagon. I am deploying via budget airline on October 27th- (my birthday!) To Dulles airport in lovely Washington DC. Upon my arrival I will be plied with birthday steaks and beers and whatever else I raid from my parents abode. I shall sleep off my food coma and wake up the next morning, fat dumb and happy. I shall then spend the next day harassing the Amish folk for having inferior beards and acquiring more beer. At some point, I shall meet my first grm person, sky render. As I have purchased miyuki from him, he has bargained in one last goodbye to her. I owe him that for being such an agreeable salesperson.
Here's the part I am unsure of. I am well confident of the cars ability to make the drive. I spend a lot of money for phone internet, so I can stream all the tunes I want. However, when it comes down to it, I've never done this length by myself. I'll be driving from PA to st Paul MN. I know I'm landing in Indy for a little bit to meet grmers, Yamaha, and sf1. Assuming I don't die in the presence of Yamaha's death bike, I shall continue onto roughly ,Chicago. I may well meet sbf, if he has time. Beyond that, I have family in Chicago.
This is the extent of my plan. I pretty much plan on couch surfing if possible. I will purchase a blanket and pillows at Walmart on my way down the line just in case. I will likely be sleeping next to a set of wheels that I pick up in va from failboat.
Anything else I should be thinking about?
Beware of "burrito blowout"
Bagels, baby carrots, and Mt. Dew Voltage for the long driving stints.
test our your gamer food idea. wipe down your steering wheel each night to see how clean your idea is.
for comfort grab a cheap sleeping bag, pillow and foam pad to use while sleeping. a crap sleep makes for a E36 M3ty day of driving trust me. i did 5200 mile of it that way over the summer.

Yeah a case of coke and water will be with me, I'm very migraine prone so in addition to weapons grade painkillers, I am never more than 40 feet from caffeine.
When do you plan on being in Indy?

Gatorade and a bag of chocolate chip cookies and I am good for Minneapolis to London non stop. Books on tape are my preferred entertainment.
I found that sugar and caffeine came with too much of a crash cycle to be worth it.

Good call on the Gatorade. I think I shall use that.
Gatorade has a ton of sugar in it....
I assume you have a tool kit assembled? Simple spares?
I agree about the sugar crash cycle being too much for my tastes. Water keeps me happier. Also regular stretch breaks for a few jumping jacks and lap around the car.
Take the whole sleeping when needed thing seriously and you should be good. Second on the foam pad too, they're less than $10 in the wally world camping section.
Peanut butter sandwiches. Energetic, no refrigeration needed, cheap.
Passing through Milwaukee?
Complex carbs, no simple sugars. Black coffee, granola and some kind of protein.
Im going to send you another email about those wheels. Because if you are flying into Dulles Airport, my 'rents house is literally 15 minutes away from there to the north.
Assuming you are taking 28 to 7 to 15 north up to PA, it would literally be a 5 minute detour for you.

Tool kit is a wild card. I'm attempting to no luggage this thing other than carry on. Probably buy tool kit out there.

Unsure. Possibly? I haven't nailed down the route yet.

I know, but it does not give me the sugar high or crash that I would get from other things. The chocolate chip cookies are exactly diet food either, its what works for me to get from top to bottom of the fuel tank without stopping in-between.
beverages from wide-mouth bottles. because urinal.

I live in the Northwest burbs of Chicago. Let me know if you have time to meet up, place to sleep, wrench, eat...
For the drive - tunes, cell phone, AAA, credit card and your golden.
I would say that you can come hang with psteav, Clem, and me but central MO is a little far from Chicago. Also, I call dibs on miyuki when she leaves your stable, assuming I haven't found my own yet.
