I'm done with Wahl, and I prefer plugin over cordless. Let me get that out of the way at the beginning.

Over the last 10 years or so, I've used Wahl professional trimmers with no guard for my head, beard, etc. I'm sick and tired of them working great for 2-3 months then needing to be stripped, cleaned, lubed, and rebuilt before every use and often DURING use.

What little hair I have left is thick, to the point I wouldn't be against animal shears.

I want something that works as good a year into ownership as it does a day into ownership, preferably under $100.

What do you got? What do you like? Should I just head to tractor supply and grab a horse trimmer?

My barbers have had either Wahl or Andis. I would buy them from Sally Beauty or a place like https://www.barbersupply.com/clippers-trimmers/?sort=alphaasc&page=2 rather than Amazon or Wally World.

Horse trimmer is still probably going to be a Wahl.

Oof. Those aren't cheap, but, by once cry once I guess.

So I'll be sporting the half trimmed look for a while till I have the extra money for an oster it sounds like

Honestly I've used a corded cheap Conair available for @ $30 at any walmart, CVS etc.   Ive been shaving my head and trimming my beard for over 30 years and Im on my 2nd one.  First one died young when a roomate tried to take down his massive beard in one pass instead of working at it gently.  2nd one is well over 20 years old now, I've pulled it apart and cleaned/lubed it maybe 3 times in all that time.    For the price if I only got a year or 2 out of it I'd be happy, for the time its put in Im thrilled with the dang thing.

Veterinary clinics go through clippers like autocross tires at Nationals.

Oster is the answer, and for long term durability, corded only.
