I'll let you know tomorrow, haha. Our Leesa is scheduled for delivery today. At $900 shipped for a king, and a legitimately zero-hassle or cost 90 day return policy, I felt it was a no-brainer to at least try it out. From what I've read, the Leesa/ Tuft and needle beds feel much firmer when coming off of traditional coil mattresses, but that you get used to it quickly.

I have several friends that have the Leesa, and of those 8 people, 1 has returned it due to it just being too firm for their liking. I'll be sure to let you know what we think, both first impressions as well as long-term.

After too much research, I ended up buying from eLuxurySupply. They had a special on a mattress and wood frame that was too good to pass up. I just got it yesterday. Pluses: Excellent, responsive, entirely U.S.-based human customer support; products seem well-made (the mattress and frame were both made in USA, not sure about the rest). Minuses: Shipping ended up being a colossal cock-up, with items coming in a bunch of small shipments from all over the place. Without relating the whole story in detail, the mattress took far too long to get here, and they actually ended up shipping two, only to have to reverse one after the first one arrived. UPS was partially at fault for this, but the whole process was less than efficient.

Can't really say much about the mattress yet. Only slept on it last night, and it always takes me a few nights to get accustomed to a new bed.

So I think I'm going for the Novaform from Costco, just because it's easier for us to get it same day instead of ordering online.. Luckily, returns are easy so we can take it back should we need to.

Well, I'm a week in with mine and I'm increasingly pleased with it. Nice firm support, not hot, and just a major improvement over the old one in pretty much every way. The bedding from the same source is very nice as well. Sleep is steadily improving, and my skeletal structure seems to be returning to something approaching the normal human arrangement.

Glad to hear the positive review.

SWMBO & I need to get a mattress soon ourselves, but here's a question for the hive - we both want something generally firm, but I really need something with 2 or more layers of increasing density to accommodate every bony joint on my body. Are there any options like this, or even better, that would have different densities for each side?

We have/had a Tempurpedic(the slightly softer version), but after a couple years it was just too firm for me & I'd wake in pain every morning. A mattress topper helped somewhat, but it still got really hot. We also did a Sealey traditional mattress/box spring with a thin pillow-top. It's almost soft enough on the top for me, but sags/sinks too much in the middle.

I have a $2k memory foam mattress that is comfortable enough for about 15 minutes... but I hate it after that because I am already a human furnace and it traps the heat and makes me sweat like a superhero sidekick who's only power was sweating. My wife loves it though - and if she doesn't get a good night's sleep doom awaits us all. So... I sweat. Or I get up in the middle of the night and go to option B:

The most comfortable sleep I get around here is on a $69 camping cot with a $90 self inflating mattress on it (see camping thread). I am considering setting it up permanently and just moving into the garage where all the other things I love are kept. With some mosquito netting I can also have the biggest fresh air window in the house.

Get two twin XL beds, put them side by side, with a king mattress topper on top. You get the firmness you want; your wife gets hers.

I read that the Tempurpedic tended to run hot. I can't speak to anything but the one I got, but I came across a few options in my research. Some mattresses are specifically designed to be cooler - Purple is one, but there are others. There are also cooling toppers, both pillow and foam. All I know is that mine (the eLuxurySupply mattress plus their Marriott pillow topper) is fine for my use, and seems to be cooler overall than the traditional mattress plus cheap memory foam topper I had before.

I have the Costco 3" Novaform - love it. But it's on top of a very firm base mattress which prevents any sort of sagging.

We also went with eluxurysupply. http://www.eluxurysupply.com/products/gel-memory-foam-10-inch-mattress-made-in-the-usa

We got a better deal than their page advertises by a couple hundred bucks. 120 day trial, and I was fully prepared to return it if we didn't love it. We came from a disgustingly old traditional mattress that we kept putting off. After the baby came and I found the little sleep I was getting sucked, it was time to pull the trigger.

I did a ton of research and was close to getting the amazon mattress that has been posted here a bunch. I was feeling patriotic though, and went with the veteran owned company with a better return policy. We're 6 months in and its still flat and comfy.

Freakonomics did a show on mattresses a few months back that will keep you from buying one of the big names. The jist is that they are just names with huge mark ups. There's a reason there is one on every corner selling.

We bought an 8" queen foam mattress from Amazon for about $200 to use in our travel trailer. Just got back from an almost-two-week trip, and the thing was fantastic. I think my wife even likes it better than the one we have at home, which is a Costco Novaform king.

I'll never buy another big-name mattress again.

good timing on this thread. I've been sleeping on a twin XL for years now and since I finally got around to buying a house, it seems like a good time to upgrade to a bigger bed. I honestly had no idea you could easily buy a bed on the internet and ship it for a reasonable cost.

Since my last post we purchased another two Sleep Master Ultima Comfort memory foam mattresses for our rental house. At 12" they look massive in twin size, but they are super comfortable. Overkill for a kid bed, maybe, but another worthy Amazon option in larger sizes.

Thanks for the heads up! I am laying on my new Novaform bought today thanks to you. I had hoped to be able to try it out in store but they didn't have a display model. However with their generous return policy I didn't feel too worried. So far it's great. Hope I feel the same after sleeping in it.

Well, this mattress is too firm for me and my wife. We both make jokes about it frequently. I need to try out different foam mattresses and see if there's something less firm but still comfortable.

Nothing against your tip Fueled by Caffeine - I really appreciated it. But I think we're going to end up returning this one. It's like sleeping on a brick covered with a little foam.

That's the one I want, then!

My best night sleep so far has been on an area rug on hardwood, head on pillow.

We have one and love it. We've been on it for two weeks now and It just provides a wonderful nights rest.. Just this we both commented on how well rested we felt. I've always been a hard bed guy and my wife is coming around to it.

Different strokes for different folks, the return policy of Costco sure helps out here.

I read your review this morning. My greatest fear of buying this was that it would be too soft.
We were near Costco earlier tonight so we stopped. The price was still $559 for king so we bought.
Wish me luck.

I did not open it tonight and will likely get no chance to open it until late tomorrow (Thurs) so maybe first sleep Friday night. (since it has to breath/expand for 24 hours after opening)

We got a King sized mattress into my wife's Mazda5 and could have still seated 4 people.

If I'm ever single again, I will be dragging out my camping cot. No additional air mattress required. Only gave it up because it would be weird to sleep solo on a cot while living with SWMBO?
