Something i just thought of this morning
Were driving to Miami to meet the boat. We will take the prius, which tends to be a target for cat theft.
Where do we park while on the boat? Im assuming theres a lot at the port like at the airport.

There are parking garages at the cruise terminal. I don't want to jinx you but I doubt they'll steal a cat there.

I have no problem with resort zones, or paying more because of it. I did my research, hired a taxi to take me to a place, and got taken to the tourist place he kept trying to take me to when I got in, and I told him no repeatedly. Got a new taxi to take me where I wanted to go, then needed a taxi back. 40 US dollars, after I paid 10 to get there. That was just one example. I was glad to get on that boat and leave.
I've been to Cancun, Dominican, Jamaica, all without issue. Cozumel can get berkeleyed.
Costa Maya is a hole. Not even worth getting off the boat. Lotta abandoned resorts, dead streets and boulevards, and a general uneasiness surrounds the entire place.
This is Costa Maya
Watch out for hustlers, have everything negotiated up front, pay at time of delivery not at the end of the trip, and don't believe a word anyone tells you. Covid hit these places hard and everyone is hungry. Like my buddy said, "There is $10k cash walking off that boat right now. How much of that you get is up to you."
You don't need local currency, its so commercialized US dollars are good. Credit cards, even international ones, are gonna be iffy since the vendors get hit with transaction fees so they all want cash.
Food off the ship is barely better than food on the ship. Which is to say, 1 step above circus meat.
Most of all, have fun!
