cost of living, things to do, etc.
Cost of living is not low. Homes are expensive, but there's plenty of work if you have a skill, or are a hard worker. Mississauga is ethnically diverse, and a young city, so it's fairly neat and tidy, and there's not a lot of slummy areas like you might find in a city like Hamilton. It's also right next to Toronto, so there's no shortage of things to do. Lot's of autocross, a few road courses (and lot's of circle tracks) within reasonable driving distance, and no shortage of restaurants. Good restaurants, not chains. I lived 1 mile from the airport until I was 14, and later worked in Mississauga for 11 years.
Lived there 40 years ago and still go to visit my sister. Huge bedroom community for Toronto. Expensive and poorly built housing. All about the consumer lifestyle. As mentioned, no real slummy areas.
Traffic anywhere in the GTA is a mess. Every once in a while Mother Nature throws a little snow there way to really make it interesting.
I travel there for work regularly. Main thing I have to note about it is traffic is a nightmare. They have some decent poutine restaurants.
We just started warehousing our consumer products there for Canadian distribution. I didn't go on the site visit, though, so I'm no real help. Seems to be a lot of border warehousing and reship in the area for work opportunities.

That's Quebecoise...the e at the end makes ALL the difference.
My wife grew up there, and her sisters and parents still live there. The housing has gotten quite expensive. There is easy access to Toronto on the Go Train. I don't go as often as I used to. What would bring you There?
Just a thought; depending on how much you want to spend you could get a nice place down by the lake between Longbranch/TO and Mississauga. We've been in LB for just over a year now and really like it; close enough to get to downtown TO by transit or car, easy commute for me to work up in Vaughn, and you've got the parks, bike trails, and lake access nearby. Several of my co-workers live in Port Credit which is between TO and the MISS.

Yeah, I might have quit French in grade ten. Pretty sure you were one of a pretty small group here that caught that.

This!
Peeler bar. Ha
I used to travel there for work. Cott Beverages, next to the airport. Anything requiring driving to Toronto is a traffic nightmare. It's cold in January. 6" of snow is considered "a dusting."

If that's the one in the strip mall that's conveniently named 'Airport strip club' haha, then I'd kindly disagree my friend. It's been a bunch of years, but that place was seedy even for my lack of standards. Dayshifters as far as the eye could see.
