Learn me: new range stove/oven thing

Need a new one.  Current one has 2 malfunctioning burners and it's time to replace it with one that matches the other appliances.  Must be stainless, and all electric.  
 

What do I look for?  Has technology changed in the last 20 years?  I don't want to spend a ton, just want something reliable.  Will likely not be living here in 9 months or so, but may keep this house as a rental.

The biggest improvement is induction. It doesn't work with all pots and pans, but I'd rather get new pots and pans than live without induction.

I only have one pan and one pot, both would work fine with induction.  That said induction appears to be much more pricey, so I'm not really convinced it's the answer for me.

Induction is the best option for an electric range. Convection bake and roast options are also a must in my house

If looking for cheap and reliable, stick with old school coil elements. Glass tops are fancy, but don't do any one thing well enough to justify the price increase

That's a tough call for me.  I currently have a glass top and the ability to clean it easily is is pretty important to me.  That said if it were old school coils I'd probably just replace 2 coils and keep using it.

Are you sure the burners are bad and not the switches ?  I replace switches regularly but never the burners........ I probably just jinxed myself.....

Sounds fair to me. I also have a glass top. I like it, even though it's scratched to hell by my cast iron pans

Could be switches also.  With an older style it would take 10 seconds to figure that out - just swap two burners.

Either way, this is the only non-stainless appliance in my kitchen, so rather than invest time & energy into fixing it I'd rather just replace it.  

The E36 M3ty part is I likely need to replace a fridge and dishwasher this year as well.  Appliances and I do not get along.

But, you're leaving in 9 months so, this purchase really isn't for you, its for the renter or buyer if you sell.    I do love induction and will personally never go back but, again if buying for someone else...  

Since you say stainless only then consider manufacturers.  The color varies from manufacturer to manufacturer if a perfect match is your requirement.  

My last two NEW appliances were bought via the website AJ Madison and the washing machine was delivered into the laundry room and the old unit moved by them out to the garage.

Used would absolutely be an option, but I don't have a vehicle that can transport a range, nor do I have a helping hand to get it into place.  This limits me to a consignment type shop purchase, and in my experience the price difference there is minimal, but they tend to charge more for delivery/install.

Stainless is fine, exact match not needed.

Whats the 4 Cyl Camry of ranges these days?  I don't know what brands to trust/not trust.

I'll check out AJ Madison.  Other options that jump out for convenince are Costco (extended warranty, maybe better price) and Lowes (lowes card = 5% discount)

We have not talked Ranges but in recent chatter about Washing Machine and Refrigerators the general consensus was that the companies that manufacture phones and tablets generally do a bad job of manufacturing durable appliances.

FTFY.  Having been on induction for a number of years now, I hate cooking on gas ranges now almost as much as I hated cooking on conventional electric ranges after having spent time cooking on gas.

Admittedly, for the short duration, any glass top will probably be sufficiently appealing looking to most buyers or renters... Then get a nice induction for yourself in the next place.
