That's totally not my intention, let me try to be a bit clearer. I think that law enforcement is a very noble profession, it just annoys me when a few bad apples destroy the public perception of it. I'm also pretty tired of the "revenue generator" schtick I always see on car forums. Do I want cops patrolling my favorite fun roads when they're deserted and I'm on them? Of course not. But I do want officers patrolling streets where kids play and stopping people who are driving like total jackasses. If that means I get a speeding ticket every few years, so be it.
I just wish more folks took responsibility for themselves. I EARNED every ticket I ever got, and have been given breaks on quite a few more I should've gotten. And law enforcement is like every other job, those cops don't just give out traffic tickets because they want to, they have a boss telling them to do so, because he has a boss telling him his officers better write more tickets. If 99 percent of cops had their way, they'd only be on patrol and responding to calls and occasionally stopping those duties to bust the moron who is driving like a total asshat.
As soon as I matured a bit in my dealings with law enforcement and dropped my attitude, my dealings with the police have been a lot more pleasant and professional. YMMV. I still think about getting into law enforcement because of encouragement of a few friends, but I think I'll get my CDL first, and get in shape, maybe take a few more classes to get my bachelor's degree and be a parole/probation officer.
If you're ever in Indiana and are told "I have to give you a ticket" from a state trooper......please laugh. Their quota is only pulling over people, not writing tickets.
They'll write em all day long if you're a douche though.
I just had a driver bitch at me from the cab of his tractor, to the back of his van, and back to the cab. Apparently I am "overdoing" my job. I hope he contacts my company, HSA, and the FDA. I asked him to and got a dirty look. Who knows. He might do it.

You've got a job to do, berkeley everyone who feels inconvenienced ......seriously. I still believe better than 90% of leos enjoy their jobs, and the people that whine are the only ones heard.
There's a local gunowners board where myself and a select few others always tried to post positive encounters to stem the tide of the "I was inconvenienced butthurt" we'd normally get flamed for it too.

He is one of the reasons I have great self control, so I guess I should thank him.
Yea. The ones who praise the police are voiced over by someone mad that a cop parked next to a fire hydrant during an emergency. No cop makes everyone happy. Working security, I'm happy I have a good relationship with everyone and thats because I "overdid" my job protecting employees property. I get plenty of respect around here and for that, I'm thankful, but ready to move on.
I've been getting more and more grumpy as I get older, that count as being an ass?
Thanks for all the input, guys

I get grumpy, too, but that doesn't make you an ass.
For instance;
You are grumpy. You pull someone over for 50 over the speed limit. You walk up and say very politely, "Good afternoon, ma'am, I'm not officer BoostedBrian with your friendly police department. I stoppe you for doing 50 mph over our speed limit." You act normal and are nice. As longs as you have self control, they have no idea you're grumpy. Go sit in your car and be as grumpy as you want.
