If the rust on the Mazda 2 happens to put it into the VERY cheap beater catagory, I'm not real picky, just broke! Keep me in mind, if so.
Thanks.
It does. It's along the rockers in front of the rear wheels. I'm just not into rust repair any longer. Only other issue is a fault code for lean condition that goes away when ambient is below 32 degrees. Been chasing that for a while. It's got 215555 miles on the original clutch.
This thread is bad... if I financed, my monthly payment would be about 1/3rd of what I spend in fuel right now, so I would get a newer car AND save money

Wow. thanks for taking a look. Gonna stop at the credit union tomorrow.

The Audi Allroad I accidentally got for my wife, is the first car with rust I've bought in 3o years, that I plan to keep
I'm not good with body work / paint, so I tend to avoid trying. Now hit it with some Rust Reformer, and move on; I can do that!!!
As a short term beater, looks matter not! As long as body parts ain't falling off as ya drive...
I once bought a WAY rusty work truck. Tied the fenders and hood on with close line wire to get it from FL to VA!

The Prius C is different enough from the regular 3rd Gen Prius and Prius V that many in the Prius community see them as different cars. They are kinda the best combination of the 2nd Gen's Motor and the 3rd Gen's Transmission and Inverter tech. They aren't impacted by the same issues as the normal 3rd Gen Prius (notable the oil burning and frequent head gasket issues). They also don't suffer from the same EGR clogging issues as the normal Prius.
When these were new, I liked them and was inquiring about them. Someone whose daily driver was an LS2 GTO complained that they were horrible because if you were going 80 and wanted to pass someone, there was nothing there.
My car at the time topped out around 75...
Personally I grew a bit boojie over the years and the Lexus variant is more to my taste now.
Lexus didn't make a C variant. The Lexus CT200 is based off the XW30 platform that the Corolla, Scion tC, Rav4, Prius, and Prius V share.
When you look at the newer Corolla hatchback, you can see how it shares a platform with the CT200.
I never found the normal Prius to be slow, especially compared to my Honda Fit, 2.4l Tacoma and my old Ford Econobox Wagon or Dodge Shadow.

I had a big ol' dodge magnum wagon for a bit, with the tiny 2.7 v6. Rolled my eyes when I first saw "2.7?"
It is mentioned all over the internet as being "so slow it frightenely dangerous around other traffic." Those people either like to hear stupid spew forth from there mouths, or have never driven a slow car. Or probably both.
Fast? Absolutely not. But it would do better than 80 on interstate if ya wanted to, and got 27 mpg if driven like an adult.
Try a '80s diesel truck, or Benz. Half the cars from the late '70s early '80s that I've owned were slower!
Have never driven ANY Prius. But I'm skeptical of the "so slow it's dangerous" statements.

C&D clocked the 2.7L Magnum at 8.5seconds 0-60 and a 17 second quarter mile
The Prius C took 11.4 seconds to GET TO 60MPH!
Doubt all you want, I actually owned one. Multiple times per week I would be in the right lane, foot to the floor, with people tailgating me and honking their horn while I was giving it all of the beans. God forbid I had a passenger with me

Could there have been something wrong with yours? That hasn't been my experience with it. As I said, very slow to be sure. However given enough time I had no problem cruising at 80. No, that's not fast enough to fly in the right lane but I also wasn't a moving road block. It's a city car that can do long highway runs if needed. Never once was I foot to the floor with people honking and tailgating.
Surprisingly the engine is only turning about 2800rpm at almost 80.
Way back when these were new a local Toyota dealer mailed a flyer out that offered a $60 Visa gift card to come take a test drive of any vehicle. I decided to try the C. I instantly got EK Civic vibes from it in terms of ergonomics and view out of the front. I didn't hate it. Not much room in the back seats. I didn't find it dog slow or anything.

The CT200 and Prius C are in the same class to me because they are car shaped and not tall minivan shaped like the regular Prius.

Thanks for the numbers on the waggo. Never looked at 'em despite about a 10:1 raitio of internet lore claiming they were so dangerous, they should all be forcibly scrapped!
I heartily apologize if I came across as insulting you personally - I was meaning to insult those clowns!
As to numbers ( and not doubting your word) is the 11.4 sec. 0-60 time a published number also?
Thats getting into 300D territory

2018 Toyota Prius C Tested: The Citiest Prius (caranddriver.com)
About 1/4 way down:
"In spite of its slim 2644-pound curb weight, the Prius C is downright slow. The one we tested needed a glacial 11.4 seconds to amble from zero to 60 mph and 18.2 seconds to cross the quarter-mile mark at 75 mph. Its lethargy is exacerbated by the CVT, which causes the engine to drone in making the most of the meager 73 horses the inline-four produces at 4800 rpm."
Mine was a high mileage 2013, so I suspect the engine wasn't making the rampaging factory 73hp, and the hybrid battery was on its way out.

It's worth noting that the regular 2010-2015 XW30 98hp Prius's 1.8L 2ZR did help it's feelings of motivation. Total output with electric motor was 134hp.
The B-Platform Prius C, using the older 76hp 1.5L 1NZ motor, was probably noticeably less spunky. Total output with electric motor was just 99hp.
My Fit's 1.5L was rated at 117hp, but without the torque assist of the electric motors.
My S40 ran 18s in the quarter and could get over 40mpg without trying hard... a Prius C is easier to find, though. And lighter.
The Volvo had a turbocharged 2 liter four, so it really had no business being that slow. The turbo was mainly there for fuel economy, not power.
So I've found a few cars local to me. One is a 2018 from New Jersey that was owned by Enterprise rental. It has 145000 mile son it, but looks real good in person. Yes, NE surface rust and such. Please they really should detail it better. Another at a different dealer I was told just came in and they haven't gone through it. I spotted it while driving through the lot yesterday. 2014 with about 60000 miles on it. They said to check back on Tuesday after their techs have had a chance to go through it. I checked out a few others that are Northeast cars with mileage hovering in the 100000 range from 2012 to 2014.
I'm real interested in the car with 60k on it. It's red like my 2.
So, newer but higher miles, or older with half the miles?
Here's the link to the local dealer with the 2018. They had 3 other Cs on the lot.
Here's another dealer.
The first dealer has always had a sketchy reputation. I noticed on the gray car the front inner fender liner on the driver side had what appeared to be sheetrock screws holding it to the fender. It had the cleanest chassis however.
