Here's another question now that I've started work on refurbishing: I want to replace the capacitors on the crossover section. The circuit board appears to be glued to a piece of Masonite inside the cabinet. Now, I could just snip the old caps out and solder the new ones with the circuit board still glued in, but that would be very fiddly and burny and the result wouldn't look good. Besides shotguns and BFHs, what other ways could I use to remove the glue that won't cause the Masonite or particle board/MDF to swell?

MAYBE, maybe, heat gun or hair dryer and some braided fishing line or dental floss?

That stuff is probably hard as a rock, but a little heat might help soften it enough to get some line behind it like decals on a car.

Try heating the glue. See If it softens up.
