My brother in law has a Christmas party every year and it's usually one of the first ones of the season. Shortly after last year's event, he heard about "Ugly Sweater Parties" and immediately decided that it would be the theme for this year. I have spent the past year trying in vain to convince him that he is an idiot. But since no one ever seems to listen to my logic, his plan is going forward. So with that in mind, I decided that there would only be one sweater that would suffice. I bought a Big Lebowski sweater off of eBay.
Now, there are reproductions out there but they're not quite accurate. The genuine article sells for about $400 used. I was, however, able to find one listed by a seller who didn't know what he had and who wrote a description that flew below the radar. I picked it up for much less than the going rate and the plan was to wear it to the party, have it cleaned and then sell it for a profit.
But, damn, this is the warmest berkeleying thing that I have ever worn...
Truly you are a god amongst us mortals. Do the dude proud.

Hmm...I have been looking one of those for a less that $400 price. Depending on size and how much profit you want to make hit me up when you are ready to sell :)

Moral of the story is that I may have to keep it.

Well there's nothing wrong with that either :) Enjoy!
And you look a lot like Jeff Bridges while wearing it.

For anybody who might be shopping for one, I'd advise you to get one size larger than you might ordinarily buy. Most of the ones on eBay were Large. Mine is an XL. The sleeves are long, but the body is snug. A Large would have been too tight.
You should never take it off. It is fanberkeleyingtastic.
Really ties the room together?
The awesome thing about The Dude's outfits in that movie is that they were apparently straight out of Jeff Bridge's closet. He just went in there with the wardrobe person and they picked stuff out that looked right. He's got an even worse closet of clothes than I do.
Who was selling it? Larry Sellars? Little brat was stone wallin' me...
That was a pretty common sweater around here when I was a kid. I think they are known as a siwash sweater.
Most were grey, but this one is cool.

At what point during the year did you decide that you also wanted to be an idiot?
In reply to DukeOfUndersteer:
Well played sir!
In reply to Anti-stance:
And Woody, don't meet a stranger in the Alps.

Hey pal, I was born an idiot...
"Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here! "
You know, you must now spend the entire party drinking White Russians
What's so idiotic about an ugly sweater party?
