On these, I can work all day *and* post to GRM in the evening. The only thing I don't like about the ones I have are the function key, which are made from a ca 1980s home computer rubber key material. The regular keys have super light action and good feedback. Which reminds me, I need to replace one of them, it's becoming a little worn after a good 10 years of continuous use.
so what is it? I have a weak wrist from falling years ago, and too much wrenching, keyboard work, or anything repetative tends to make it sore and cracky

Cheap they aren't, but in my case they literally saved my career. IME they're long lived - I bought the one I have at work in 2000 and it's still going OK, although I'm thinking about replacing that one, mainly due to the rubber function keys not making that good a contact anymore. The two I'm using here are both a good ten years old, too.

I love the keyboard especially - it has such a great feel and key response. I feel like a better typer when I use it. I also missed the dual monitor display, so handy when you are ripping CDs to iTunes and surfing GRM. Don't get me wrong, I like all things gadget-y, but some things just make you geek-out, per se. The keyboard I actually discovered while at a UPS store. I was directed to use their computer to fill out the label information and I loved the feel of the keys so much I flipped it over and got the model number off the bottom before I left. The clerk probably thought I was nuts, but somethimes you gotta geek-out. The Keyboard: an HP KU 0316 So, what have you geeked out over recently?

I'm typing on one of these right now at work.

I have the Dell compact keyboard at work. From everything I've read about the Model M keyboard, it describes the things I like about the HP, so maybe the HP was modeled after the famous M.

I'm going to have to get one of those tape measures!

I currently have five computers here at the house, four of which are currently working and see regular use. I have a package on its way from Newegg which will fix the fifth unit. I have a shelf full of old Macs in the garage, including a Mac IIfx. My current OS of choice is Ubuntu linux, simply because it works so much better than windows. The latest version was something of a disappointment however. I just don't like the way it looks. Much prefer my 10.04 LTS.

I'm considering building an HTPC, but I don't think six computers in the house is healthy.

I've been contemplating a Linux cluster recently - not because I need it for a reason at all, but just because I have about 50-old Dell P4 machines that I haven't got around to scrapping yet.

How to fix Ubuntu 11.10:
sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback
sudo apt-get install gdm
sudo apt-get purge lightdm
sudo apt-get install aptitude gdebi synaptic
sudo apt-get purge appmenu-gtk appmenu-gtk3 appmenu-qt indicator-appmenu
sudo apt-get install gconf-editor
sudo apt-get remove unity-lens-music unity-lens-applications unity-greeter unity-common unity-asset-pool unity-2d-launcher unity-2d libunity-misc4 libunity-2d-private0 gir1.2-unity-4.0
But, you can just install Mint Linux instead and be happy.

Beer cans.

I've been very excited that people have engineered a proper fancy lining for aluminum beer cans to really make them a good thing. I seriously think this is awesome and I'm excited that more craft beers are coming in cans.
