If we're going action shots, here's one of the only pics of me playing my Cort, in '95 or so, with my band The Ninjas. My mom has a costume shop, so we would dress in various ninja, kung fu, karate, etc. uniforms, or really anything Asian.

Wish I could name other users, but Roach from the Groovie Ghoulies played through one, and that's the sound I'm most familiar with from it, but I gather it's supposed to do a good Fender-y cleaner sound, and is switchable between 25/50/100 watts, hopefully allowing access to what it can do without police intervention.

My first "real" amp was a X100B. Not a bad sounding amp, but it won't give you that "hot-rodded Marshall" sound if that's what you want. I ended up using pedals to get more gain. The clean sound was likewise not bad, but won't get mistaken for a Twin by any stretch.

The power output switch was nice, but it did change the tone quite a bit. The 25w setting was only useful if you had a 1x12 to plug it into. Since I only had a 4x12, it was marginal.

Looks like it might be time for you to build your own tube amp!

I made a 5F1 Fender Champ. Yeah it's 5-6 watts but I have a 100 watt Hughes and Kettner solid state head and a fender 4x12 cabinet. I don't think I've ever gone over 6 or 7. I'll probably make a 15-30 watt guitar amp someday, maybe another Fender design or Trainwreck. Maybe one of the AX84.com designs.

I like Les Pauls well enough - I have three of them - but I can't understand having so many copies of the same model...

Well, if he's anything like me, it goes like this (using my example with acoustics):

I already have a dreadnaught, but this one is Maple back and sides, so it is completely different.
Oh, I already have 2 dreadnaughts, but this one is all laminate, so it will be my beater.
Oh, I already have 3 dreadnaughts, but I don't have an electric one and I don't want to put a pickup in any of mine.
Oh, I already have 4 dreadnaughts, but this is such a cool sunburst!
Oh, I already have 5 dreadnaughts, but this is the coolest pickguard EVAR!
Oh, I already have 6 dreadnaughts, but none of them are Rosewood! Etc., etc.

In reply to mtn:

I suppose. At one point I had four and two were basically identical. Granted, I was playing out more often so the second was a back up to the primary. Especially since Kahler's tend to break strings...

I'm really itching to get that guitar (81 Studio) working again... Needs pro help, tho... The other two are an '80 Firebrand and a ~'71 standard (that needs a new fretboard).

Was wandering around craigslist today looking for a vacuum cleaner, and found an ad that had a vacuum that was overpriced and an Epiphone dreadnaught that was underpriced--the cheap bottom of the line one, but it had a hard case.

So now I have my 2nd Epiphone sunburst dreadnaught. I'm going to try to pawn it (but keep the case) for what I paid for the whole package.

Remember that Strat build thread I did around Christmas? Well, my nephew is still playing 3 months later, which is a miracle in today's world. I'm picking him up after work tonight and taking him to Guitar Center for the first time. I'm pretty sure his head will explode.

They just opened a new one near his house that is actually pretty good.

Also, I have an urge to build a relic'ed Jazz Bass. I don't care what I start with for a body, but I want to do a maple blond neck on it, maybe a Warmoth one?

Yeah, so I brought my nephew to Guitar Center, and yes, his brain exploded.

One thing he has been asking me for since he got the guitar was a tremolo bar, because it didn't come with one. When I got it, the bridge appeared to be permanently fixed so it didn't float anymore, but in the 3 months he's had it, it magically popped back up! It's like the guitar knew he was ready for it or something. $5 later, he had his tremolo bar. Now I want to get one for my Jackson.

I also played a bass there that is on my must-have list for the future. It was a Jackson Concert Bass that was set up like the David Effelson signature model, but made in India. It had active electronics and played amazingly well. It had a super fast neck and sounded incredible. New, it was only $349 too.

Looked just like this:

This makes me laugh; I have bought a guitar before solely for the pickguard. Actually, I think I bought another simply because it had a slot-head and fit well in the Miata.

It was that or the pink Charvel 7 tele copy. The Dean was Dave Hardy approved. The pink Charvel, not so much.

Oddly enough, the first thing I do to a Les Paul is ditch the pick-guard... probably because the first one I got didn't come with one so that's what I'm used to.

Unless they're covering a front-route, I think pickgaurds are silly. "Let's drill holes in the guitar to protect the finish."

All of my pickguards are glued on... I suppose it is different for electrics, but the two electrics that I've owned didn't have pickguards.

A guy at work gave me a Champion 110.

I think I'm going to make a tube overdrive pedal and run it at high voltage like it should be.... Maybe use the McTube II or a tweed preamp circuit...?

Since we don't really have a better place to put this, I'll be playing out for the first time since college tonight. Just a simple 2 song open mic gig, but still excited. 9-ish @ Steve's Live Music in Sandy Springs if any of you Atlanta dorks wanna see me goofing off on the bass fiddle.
