Hi resident GRM electricity and light bulb experts.
So I've moved into an off-grid tiny house that has a DC light fixture. Power is from solar.
The current bulb is super cold and harsh, and I'd like to change it to something warmer. I know almost nothing about DC. Can I use this light bulb?
GE LED 8.5w (60w replacement) 800 lumens brightness, 2700k
The current, cold bulb that definitely works with DC is:
LeMeng A19, 12v, 7w, 6000k
Wasn't sure if there's anything about DC that necessitates a particular bulb. Thanks!
Ultra cheap solution is to go buy a roll of yellow plastic wrap. You likely need it in the kitchen anyway. Wrap the bulb in it and bingo... warmer light.
But I'm with RedT here. 8.5w useage and 60w equivalent screams 120v AC which won't work with 12v DC.... not unless you tear it apart and reconfigure the electronics in the base, which I don't recommend.
I knew I'd better ask ya'll. So I need to find a 12v bulb. This GE bulb says nothing about voltage, so I think you guys are correct.
Yeah, that one you linked seems like it would work RedT2. Would a hardware store carry something like that? I prefer to avoid Amazon and only want one anyway.
Edit. Would this one from Ace work?

Yes, it says it's for 12v DC power on the package right under the pic of the battery. It certainly could be more obvious!

Yeah, that looks like it should work. Color temperature should be a lot warmer. Give it a try, let us know how you like it!

An alternate to Amazon could be https://www.superbrightleds.com/
I've bought car lights from them, and they were nice. If I redo some trailer lighting, I'll probably go back to them. But my camper got big tropical river sourced lights, as they were quick.
