Good news - both sides have been forced to realize the folly of their choices.
Bad news - both sides have been manipulated by agendas that have done nothing to resolve the under-lying issues.

Maybe the real intolerant people are the media who go out of their way the find the intolerance to start with.

The way the media outlets blow things out of proportion, and slant stories to align with their agendas is disgusting, and a real problem. It ain't just Fox either. I watched "hardball" the other day (big mistake) and Matthews was painting folks at the Glen Beck rally as crazed extremists that were brainwashed like Moonies into following Beck's every wish. Hideously slanted, and painful to watch. This kind of drivel is destructive and insulting. Unfortunately, it is coming from all sides.
Ever wonder why no one is apparently concerned about insulting Christianity and infuriating the 2 billion + Christians around the world to rise up and attack?
If Christianity is responsible for more murders in history than any other religion and are intolerant bigoted hate mongers prone to violence and dreams of theocracy (as anti-Christians would lead you to believe), you'd think this would be a genuine concern.

I'm failing to connect the dots here. Are you saying that threatening to murder an entire religious group is equal to burning a religious book? I'm not being snarky, I'm just not getting what you're saying.

I think what he is saying (if I am saying I think what he is saying about what you think he is saying...) is that one side is demonized for burning flags etc. while the other for burning books.
Both are just trying to get a rise out he of the other (working btw).
Both are really just burning some cloth or paper. Kind of the source of the problem here, putting WAY too much value in symbols. But not much of a reach really for most religious types (religions), its really a big part of what most of them do (in a way).

I saw Ron Paul on TV yesterday. He made a good point. Said something like burning the Quran is certainly offensive to them, but compared to sending our troop over there and bombing them it kind of pales.
If I was some kind of Jihad radical over in Afghanistan I don’t think I would fear what would happen if I were to offend the U.S., I would feel like I was living it.

Allow me to clarify........
There is an "element" that is quick to disparage anyone who disagrees with "their" concept of Constitutional rights. I believe that those who demand "tolerance" but won't embrace it themselve's are hypocrites.
We're on the same page, with slightly different interpretations.
This kind of sums it up pretty well:
