Whoa, a NEW drive-in? It's hard to find and old one....
When the Hot Rod Magazine started their Power Tour near here this year they all went to this drive in and they screened "American Grafitti" Now that was cool. All those old cars and seeing it on the big screen again.

Yup a new 3 screen drive in that's sitting in a bow of the river and in the shadow of downtown Fort Worth. One screen is completely framed by a very pretty downtown scene.
They have places to watch the movie for people who bike or ride their horse to the theater (it is just about a mile south of the FW Stockyards) as well as a very nice central eating & playground area.
They also have from 4-8 food trucks that service patrons.
There's live music from 6 until just before the movie starts every Fri-Sat-Sun.
They also have the biggest, cleanest and best bathrooms in town, which is a big plus when all 3 screens hit intermission at about the same time.
It's $8 for a double feature.
Dallas commissions studies to talk and publish articles about what a great idea they've had (and then don't do anything about it) while FW says "Hey! That's a cool idea. Let's do it!"
Consequently FW has a thriving downtown, miles and miles of parks and riding trails all along the river, food truck parks, drive-in movies, viable downtown living & shopping, bike exchanges (stands of bikes on street corners where you rent a bike one place and return it another), a huge cultural district (http://www.fwculture.com/museums.htm) to balance out the Stockyards (http://www.fortworthstockyards.org/), Bass Hall (http://www.basshall.com/) which is the best auditorium with the best line up of plays and music in the whole DFW area. FW has free music in the way Austin did back in the day. Except for South by Southwest FW offers more music venues on a given week end night than does Austin according to Texas Monthly.
It has a small town atmosphere but has the size to offer all the big town goodies. People tip their hats and wave when they pass you in the street, even if they are driving.
For the 4th of July they.... well, here's the link

This is just over the levee from the drive in movies so they paused the movies to let everyone watch the fireworks. Those were the best seats in town.
There's nothing worse than a reformed anything. I am a reformed Dallasite and can't figure out why it took me so long to move to FW.
