Actually I haven't taken pics yet .....

Headed to NAPA Saturday to buy paint for the R-90 and passed a riding mower on someone's lawn with a FREE sign on it. I had to ask. Guy says he doesn't like it much, wife hates it, hasn't run it in years.

I run home, get some ramps and take it back, never got to NAPA.

18 hp Monkey Wards rider with a 46" mowing deck and a PTO. 7 forward speeds. Mice have infested the engine's heads, or rather the sheet metal around the heads. I hate that smell.

The engine is free, the flywheel is rusty so I assume the magneto won't spark unless it's cleaned up, but for the money, I even like the color.

Shouldn't the title have been " Guess what I DRAGGED home?" since it wouldn't have followed you without a rope being tied onto a critical part?

This past weekend I drove by a house along a main road in Pa. and there sat about 2 dozen lawnmovers rusting into oblivion. The owner had / has a repair shop and I'm guessing the ones folks wanted repaired but wouldn't / couldn't come pick up afterwards were in his front yard. Not sure I'd offer more than a buck or 2 for even the best one he had there.

Agreed, but we can't edit Titles.

I'll take pitchers once it's all prettied up. The deck is off, PTO disconnected, sheet metal is removed and it doesn't stink like mouse house any more.

I'm going to donate it to the Soaring Club to use as a glider chase vehicle.

If anyone has one of these, the guy threw in a set of brandy new mowing blades, yours for the price of shipping. Who do I contact for free GRM stickers?

Is it as bad-ass as this? And this is only a 11hp.

Mine's bigger! Taurus like headlights, bigger rear wheels & tires, enclosed engine.

Here's mine. The first is what I use to make those little blades of grass shorter. Unfotunately I lost it in this corner because I went in too hot and early apexed.
The second one doesn't need a V-8.
Hey, I figure this thread needs a picture or two, considering 914 isn't supplying any.

I'm pumping big middle fingers of jealousy in your direction.

But...GREAT FIND! Take some pics. I'm curious what a free riding mower looks and acts like!

My TVR looks like this but without the paint, interior, engine, decals or girl. C'mon, 914! How hard is it to take a picture and post it?

Some people don't have an iPhone. I know, it's like living in medieval times, but whenever the Blackberry network is back up, or he restarts his Windows phone a few more times or removes the virus from his Droid, he will get a picture up. I look forward to free mowing awesomeness!

Flywheel rust doesn't affect the ignition. Mouse pee is likely the cause. Test for spark and ignore it all if there is spark.

Fired it up last night! It sounds like a boxer engine, oh wait, it is a BOXER!

I'll take some pics when I get the sheet metal back on, right now it's ugly-ish.

I have a phone that just calls people, you should see me text, oy!

Usually the ignitiion gets it's timing from a magnetic pickup on the flywheel.

The flywheel and the U shaped pickup device were rusted together. Brass brush, set gap with a business card and I've got spark.

Yep. The rust really doesn't affect the magnet or the pickup. Only if a mouse figures out how to get to the points hidden under the flywheel, and under a little cover under the flywheel can it get screwed up.

Glad you're having so much fun with it.

Where do I even start looking for a big wire basket?

I'm going to donate this to the Soaring club and a basket is needed to hold tow ropes and junk. Roughly 18 X 12 X 12 or so.

I still laugh a little bit every time I do that.

why is a business card the proper spacing of all things?

Bicycle-sized basket? I've got one off the back of an old Schwinn trike, not sure if it's worth the trouble to ship it.
