We're selling our house in a few weeks and I want to get some aerial images ready for the listing showing some features and attractions in the area. I've done this for a few clients, but it was always commercial property. They wanted to show surrounding stores and other attractions. This mean i was making a flag of sorts with the corporate logo in there. It was gaudy, but got the job done and was appopriate for the job.
This though, is residential so I want it to look a little classy, but more likely klassy lol.
But i'm having a creativity block, that's where you folks come in. I'm trying to figure out how to add 'pins' or other icons that allow me to put in a few words and will point to the attraction. My current proof of (ugly) concept is this.
I don't like it, but can't really say what I don't like. I don't want something that will block the surrounding scenery, but I do want it to 'touch down' in the area of the attraction so they get an idea of the proximity.
Any ideas?
Maybe I should crack open a bottle of New Riff Kentucky Straight and have another go LOL.
Let's take a page from memes here. You could add a border to the image, put the text in the border and do a line with a point on the end that shows where the feature is. This is a 10 second rough idea of what I mean, but you can put more info in the border without clogging up the actual image.
I'd use these since most people know what they mean, but different colors with a key on the side. Yellow pin - beach. Blue pin - water, etc
I really love the idea. Before you spend a ton of time, ask your agent/agency. Some of them have an incredibly specific brand or flavor - so much so that photos in hand sometimes don't match their aesthetic and they'll take their own.
I only mention it so you're not disappointed if they say, "that's really neat, but we'll take the photos."
Very cool idea but... My market (north central Ohio) is not anything like the "on-fire" markets in the US but even here, just a for sale by owner sign in the front yard will yield a signed, full price offer in 2 weeks. So, with that said, I wonder if the effort is needed?

I recognize that I am perceived as an outlier here, but I think you nailed it. Effective, clean, perhaps a bit subtle, but I like that.

Yeah, count me in on the original design. Simple, unobtrusive, but effective.

Good thoughts Curtis. I did some aerial work for this agent in the past, a few houses actually. Those were just straight pics and video, no graphics of any kind so I don't know yet if they have any specifics.
I sent her the 4 pics with the treatment above. I asked her if she wants a company logo, contact info, or a color scheme for the icon. I know there are rules about logos on the MLS, but websites are free game.
I appreciate everyone's input.

My market is on fire, but I figure, I spent the time and money to get legal with the FAA and I have thousands of dollars wrapped up in three drones, tons of batteries, ipad, etc. I'm going to get some stinking pictures LOL.
