My wife and I are away on vacation. We got a text from our youngest daughter saying she was taking Arya to the vet because she was breathing strangely. Vet gave her a clean bill of health and sent them home.
Got the call at 6am that Arya had gotten worse so she went back to the emergency clinic. She died on the exam table. Vet diagnosed a spontaneous collapsed lung.
She was only 4 years old and an absolute athlete of a dog. Husky mix. Totally devoted to our daughter and the feeling was mutual.
I don't know if we should cut our vacation short and head home or what. Just devastating unexpected news.
Wow, that's really tough. I'm so sorry. I've never seen that.
How's your daughter handling this? The answer to that is one reason I would consider going home.

She's a level headed kid and our older daughter still lives at home too but she just lost her best friend.
I have no words. Very sorry.
Wow. She looks like one of mine.
I am so very sorry.

Wow, what a shame. I'm sorry or your loss, and my condolences to you all.
Polychromatic, too.
Losing a dog sucks. You have out condolences ....
I'm so very sorry. We lost our Sunny last fall while away on our annual beach vaca with him. It was rough.
I'd go home. I would think your daughter needs the company, even if she says otherwise.

My daughter just went through similar...funny breathing, vet visit, nothing wrong, two days later it was worse...Chagas disease, enlarged heart, coughing blood, had to put put her down. Three years old, sweet mixed breed.
I'm sorry for both you and your daughter...smoke and prayers for you both.
Sorry to hear. Never a something that you want happening but to be so unexpected really bites.
I'm so sorry to hear that. We lost our four year old dog earlier this year suddenly, and it brutal, so you definitely have my sympathy. Vacation might be a good distraction for your daughter.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Arya looks like a sweet dog, I love her eyes.
Sorry for your loss. Sending best wishes.
So much sad. I'm so sorry, friend.
Very sorry to here the bad news. Very tough times.
Sorry to hear that. She's a cute pup. Saying a prayer for your whole family. I know what it's like to loose a four legged family member.
I know this may seem too soon but our daughter decided she needed another dog so she submitted an application to the same rescue group we got Arya from.
This is Mika. We met her yesterday with our other two dogs. All went well and we're picking her up tomorrow.
She was dropped off at a pound pregnant with 7 puppies. She wasn't doing well in the pound so the rescue group picked her up. She's been with a foster family for just over a month and has really come out of her shell. Nervous and shy with strangers but warms up. We have some work to do to bring her the rest of the way but that's part of adopting a rescue.
