Anyone have one or any experiance with one. Good? Bad? Ugly?
I usually ask these questions in advance, but they were on sale. So far it seems like a pretty awesome system.

I ended up buying the Smart Kit. The install was stupid simple and the system seems to be working perfectly. My only problem is, now I need to buy 9 more door/window sensors, plus a bunch of light switches, plus a couple of motion sensors, plus...
I was wondering if anyone else had installed one, and if they still liked it after using it for a while.
I called my wife this morning and asked her where she went. She wanted to know how I knew she wasn't at home. I told her the front door had opened and closed at 9:30, so I figured she had gone somewhere. I then asked her why she forgot to set the alarm. Then I set it for her.
I'm still at work. My wife just called.
She wanted to know why I was turning the living room light on and off.
If it holds up over time, I think I'm going to love it.

That makes me really glad I'm not married to you. No, wait...
That makes me really glad that you don't have control of anything in my house in realtime.
There, that's better.

If she doesn't kill me first, I think I'm going to love it.
FTFY.
Those look pretty cool. I would like to know more about the "free" monitoring that comes with it. Is it really free? For how long? Do they give you just the basics but try to sell you on packages with better services for an extra cost?
Free is pretty basic and fairly limited as far as remote access. For $10 a month you get the full access, except for the emergency cellular connection. I've already decided the $10 a month is worth it to me to have full access.
Art, the electrician, said they work well, and there are apparently hacks to get nearly all the features without paying for the services. The bad thing he said, is with phone upgrades and the like, the system might become outdated quickly.
Well, a week into it and I love the thing.
I've added two more door contacts for the master bedroom porch door and my shop door. The distance to the shop doesn't seem to phase it at all. I also just added a light switch for the back yard lights, so I can put them on a schedule and control them from my phone.
I've got 4 more switches, a bunch more door/window contacts, and a couple of motion detectors to add to it so far. I'm betting the list will get longer.
Very cool product and much better than the X10 stuff I used to have.
I could be mistaken, but I doubt the Chinese want to turn on my lights and I really won't mind if they want to turn them off.
It's really cool. Youngest son SAID he walked the dogs. I informed him to do that he had to open and close the door. So the next morning, I asked if he walked the dogs. He said yes, check the iris app. Well opening and closing the door doesn't qualify. NEEDLESS to say, mom and dad seem to like the app more than they do!
