Interesting.
On a fairly unrelated note: After I had purchased a '71 VW Super Beetle some 20-odd years ago, I showed it to my neighbor, a somewhat elderly gentleman. He matter-of-factly referred to it as "Hitler's Footlocker." I had not heard that one before.
I'd cruise it blaring Rob Zombie.
And I wonder how much work it would take to get that to pull wheelies.
That actually looks good somehow. I expected to hate it, don't like the idea of a rolling coffin, but it still just looks good. At least from that angle...

Those were my first two thoughts upon seeing that picture. Quite literally!

Probably not much, sandrails of similar proportions will wheelie easy with a stock bug motor, I bet the front axle weight of this thing is under 500 lbs.
Friend of mine has a rail with a stock single port VW engine on it. All he had to do to get it to wheelie was have 2 idiots stand on the back of it and lean back. I imagine pick any not very light engine you want that makes 100-150hp and you'd be golden.

Butthole Surfers Pepper and Jim Carroll People Who Died come to mind, also.
