The rule of "you must post a hotlinked picture in any response or post to the hotlink thread" seems to be trying to creep into the meme thread.
My understanding is that there is no obligation to post a meme in the meme thread. I do wish people would quote or reference the post their replying to if it's not on the current page, though.

It's cool, but it's kind of a false equivalency since the pilot had some kind of malfunction and punched out for safety. Can't exactly fire a bullet and go "whoops, take that back!"

Fun fact! The USAF and the USN F35, the pilot has to initiate ejection.
The USMC doesn't trust the crayon eating goobers flying their planes and they can auto-eject the pilot!

Maybe we could get them to stay in GA? I hear Atlanta is nice.

That's a bit ironic, coming from Alec Baldwin.

Why are LOTR and The Hobbit in the banned books section?

Originally they were considered satanic propaganda.
Certain orgs recommend it at the high school and below level because of the regular depictions of smoking

Because in various parts of the country or world, they have been banned or threatened to be banned. I know the Hobbit was involved in a Harry Potter book burning in New Mexico back when Harry Potter first got big. I remember my 6th grade literature teacher teaching us about it (the book burning), because we were in a Shakespeare unit at the time and Shakespeare was also burned.
The next year we read MAUS. My lit teacher that year had her father come speak to us, a Holocaust survivor. Book bans were brought up then too - I can't recall what country though. EDIT: It was Hungary. Obviously under Nazi occupation.
Added a meme for levity, but holy crap people are stupid. Of course, teaching people to think critically and decide things for themselves is bad for the status quo, so...

People protested the sexual abuse accusations were not appropriate content.
