When the US was doing underground nuclear testing (or something) they neglected to pull manhole covers. Due to the pressure, the cover went :pop:
There is a single frame of film of high speed film catching a manhole moving at very high speed.

It was moving at an estimated 125,000MPH. It is theorized that, due to its mass and speed, it didn't have a chance to burn up in atmosphere as it cleared about 90% of it in 0.2 seconds
