Passed this on my home today. Made me wonder what car that you wouldn't get excited for had someone who was a huge fan? Note: All minivans have a huge fan!
(No, this Cruze wasn't a diesel, hatch, or Eco)

It was definitely the best looking NASCAR. Sorry your photo was giving me vertigo.
The dream car of one of the detail kids at my work was a Chevy Cobalt. Not a Cobalt SS. Just a regular base Cobalt coupe. He repeatedly said "I've always dreamed of owning one of these" when he finally bought one.

Growing up, I had a friend who dreamed of owning an electric pencil sharpener. I guess we all have our goals in life.

I had a yellow release edition with a trd car back and sway bars and a 6 speed that I quite enjoyed

Battery powered or plug in?
Plug-in. Like one the size (and weight) of a brick.
I have unexpectedly ended up with a cream puff of a Grandma Solara.
I've joined some Facebook groups, and some people go crazy over this car - it is in their mind the best car ever produced.
That is a lot easier to understand than the Cruze - the Solara may be boring/bland, but it is really, really good at being a car.
Someone please find me a nice Pontiac 6000STE and I'll be a total fan boi. Ditto a first year Plymouth Sundance.
In reply to mtn :
The Solara was good at being a car. Coupe or convertible? And ever seen the tube-frame Solara that ran in SCCA?
In reply to SKJSS (formerly Klayfish) :
That faded yellow for the Sundance, right?
And not a 6000 STE, but we had a Cutlass Ciera. It wasn’t an International Series but it had the steel mags, bucket seats and a tach! I want to say it was auto on the column, though. Blue over blue velour.

I have not.
I’m sure there’s a photo out there somewhere, but in 2009 Duane Davis won the SCCA GT2 national title in a tube-frame Solara. IIRC, it was red.
Some GT2 Solara video action here.

When I met my wife she had a green V6 Solara coupe. It was great until we needed to be getting a baby seat in the back. Also, those doors are massive for city parking spaces! It was a great car to live with otherwise.

My sister has one just like this:
She bought it used in... 2012? They ended this generation in 2003 so it was at least 9 years old when she bought it, and she is still driving it today.
She's not the best driver so it keeps getting in (very) minor accidents like guardrail rubs, etc. but they keep getting it fixed. I think it had 75,000 on it when she got it so it has to be nearing 175,000 now.
TRD offered a supercharger and a lot of other parts for the Solara. I'm pretty sure I saw this exact car at a track day once...
In reply to Duke :
My BIL had one identical to that. It was a great car. Unfortunately it sat for 4 years, during which time the interior got disgusting, and the brake lines rusted and blew when I first hit the brake. Since the car was already in need of at least 1 catalytic converter* and a charcoal canister to get it to pass emissions, and 4 new tires... Well, it was going to take a lot of time and money to get it driveable, let alone pass Illinois emissions (not difficult, but can be expensive with the Cats and Charcoal canisters, or it was at the time). It sadly ended up in a scrap yard.
*It wasn't stolen. It was just ruined. Ironically, the car had its cat stolen in either Louisiana or Virginia; the cheap non-OEM replacement rusted away in about 2 weeks of Chicago winter.
This is my 05. It was the cheapest car on Craigslist with a manual transmission.
Tires, brakes, and front struts are all it's needed. 32mpg 1500 bucks, the nicest car I've ever owned.
She's been rode hard and put away wet by the previous owner. But still a very good car.
