A while ago I checked how much carvana would give me for my cars, out of curiosity. Now they send me monthly emails to remind me of how much they lowballed me. They also do this with my cayman that is apparently worth 8k, now.

This little hammer store mini compressor is so weak I just dropped the tire pressure from 70psi to 60psi instead of taking it up to 80.  But the tank is apparently full now....

This happens to me all the time when we're driving the Triangle (KY-WI-KC-KY) over the Holidays. I'll have the truck's cruise (having that on the new one alone is definitely worth whatever more we end up paying for having traded the '19 in for the '22....) set and not going anywhere near the gas pedal but will still pass, get passed, repeat with cars for like half of the drive. Another quarter of the drive I'll be stuck behind someone doing the speed limit in the left lane (most of the drive is 2-lanes-per-direction highway).

Well, I suppose 2 1/2 years isn't a bad run for consumer electronics these days. Yesterday in the middle of my first time back in the pool for a while my SYRYN swim MP3 player died. I had charged it so figured it should have been fine, but it wouldn't turn on and when I got home it wouldn't react when the charger was plugged in. Took it apart, and I'm guessing that the battery just died since I don't see any moisture or obvious shorts or damage. Did some searching and found that it seems I can get a replacement battery pretty cheap- but only from places like AliExpress and it would be like 3 months for it to get here (talk about a slow boat from China...). So, I had to suck it up and order a new one. Still ordering the battery though- having a backup player once the new battery arrives won't be bad.

Had that happen to us in the middle of PA on the freeway- we were cruising across the state using cruise control, and there was this one car that constantly slowed down and sped up.  And once he cut me off as I was slowly going by.  The worst part was when I passed him and then 5 min later, he screamed by me, flipping me off, ranting at me as if it was my fault that I was staying the same speed the entire time.

I tried going a little faster, and that didn't work, so I ended up slowing down until mr stress got off the freeway.

It's pretty sad that people take it so personally when their inconsistencies are pointed out by other people purely by accident.  I had no idea who that person was, so how could I be taking it out on you so personally?

And for a previous story- I've also been passed by people who try to pass on the right even though I have my turn signal on and am just waiting for a safe distance.  And people have done it (and tried it) even after I started moving over BEFORE them.  Wait a few seconds, and you have the lane.  We are not racing each other to wherever you are going.

A business rant... We bought a product from a large national company.  It was on their outlet store, so no price matching, even if they lower the price on the product a week later.  BUT.  They have free shipping and free returns, even on outlet products.  Meaning that that we will turn the product in at their local store and buy again- so they get to pay for shipping twice, and have to deal with the returned item so that they don't match their own price drop.

Seems like a waste of money, but if you want to do that, I will follow your lead to save money.

I'm an engineer, and most people here know that. I can design a lot of things. I think I am pretty good at it. I am creative, and have a wide breadth of experience in a bunch of different industries. I have high ethical standards, and won't fake tests or fluff up the widget.

I am right now engaged in a conversation between one governing authority and a second governing authority over the definition of a very simple word which either classifies the widget as a, b or c, all of which, despite being used in exactly the same way for exactly the same purpose, have drastically different tests required. Some of these tests are so irrelevant as to almost be amusing.

If the engineering is wrong, the airplane falls out of the sky. You cannot argue with the airplane about semantics around the word use. You cannot tell the wing that "pressure" is defined differently by this sanctioning body, or that there is plenty of fuel left because of the way some government defines a gallon or a liter. Differential calculus is easy. It either is or is not correct. It cannot be interpreted differently.

I cannot play these games, and I don't wish to. Simultaneously, even though I am one of five people, one who knows the least about interpreting words like "water", I am the lowest paid, but also the only one who could develop the widget.

It's the time of year where every day I wake up and have to blow crusty boogers out of my nose for an hour.

Humidifiers don't help.

My nose gets painful this time of year. I use a q-tip to put a little dab of vaseline in there every other day or so. It makes a world of difference.

Try a Neilmed sinus rinse, easier to use than a neti pot.

Tunawife uses this every single day, it works.

Just be sure you use distilled or pre-boiled water to avoid the potential for nasty infections.

There's a Facebook group that I'm part of that's all historical photos. And there's a guy that posts some real gold in there. But he'll post a bunch of really rare photos for two or three days, then delete them all without warning a day or two later, and then a month or two later, post the same photos again over a two or three day span and then delete them shortly after. Wash, rinse, repeat. Really frustrating, because I'll go to look for something and they'll all be gone.

When I go to work in the morning i set my cruise at 65 and stay in the right lane. About half way there I catch the same accord almost every day. It's gray, never has it's lights on at 4:30 am, and we pass each other 6-10 times before my exit.

I received a bill for $4.56 for some blood work I had done.

Between mailing me the bill, the processing fee for the credit card, and having someone answer the phone to take my payment.............surely it cost more than the $4.56 to even take the payment, right?

My mom owned 100 shares of stock from some crappy bank that was worth overall $1 or $10.  I kept getting quarterly notices then called them about cashing it out.

They sent me a form that I have to get the certified stamp ($35) which is above the free notary stamp.  Right, so I can sell the $10 stock?

Then my brother tells me my moms name came up on those "found" money websites.  Probably that $10 worth of stock?

My mother died a true Bohemian - she knew where every dollar was.

I was either going to recover the m3's parcel shelf or put the stock tune onto my z06.
I noticed a tire was low on the Prius.
hole was too big to plug.  Took to a local tire shop, can't patch because too close to sidewall.

my buddy who owns a mobile tire shop is out of town.

local tire place is out.

find a used tire place with the correct size and drive over.  The tire they have is worn out enough to be illegal.

(here is the minor win:   they said hold on. a lady goes and jumps in a truck and takes off out of the parking lot. No one says another word to me. 10 minutes later she comes ripping back in with two tires in the back of her truck!)

finally got out with a decent used tire just in time to pick up my kids from school.

accomplished: 0.   Oh well, at least the flat didnt strand anyone!
