Maybe if I aged 20 years in 2 months. This has not been a gradual or incremental change.

Getting older also doesn't explain the fainting episode or what is happening while working out.

Karmann the Boxer Dog punched me straight in the right eye last night, no sleep, pain, tears.

Worst part is my 2020 SE iphone will not swap cameras so I cant post a pic of my bloodied eye.

It just opened about an hour ago but still is tearing like a MF.

It happens overnight. Trust me. I went from normal to holy E36 M3 almost overnight.

It leaves you wondering what the hell happened.

Old tablet finally broke hard enough to warrant a replacement.

New tablet doesn't have the three seashells at the bottom of the screen.  I am completely lost as to how to back up, or switch apps.

I purchased a refurbished Dell 5511 laptop for the girlfriend. Up to this point, she was using a 5 year old basic Chromebook. Since getting a job for the city and becoming a board member for a local animal rescue, the Chromebook wasn't cutting it anymore.

The touchpad on the "new" Dell is kinda flaky. It stops working in resource intensive programs (Photoshop Express and Canva in this case). Dell offered a whopping $30 partial refund so I can buy a replacement touchpad and install it myself. That's not the real rant though...

This morning she was having issues with the touchpad again. Phantom touches, erratic cursor behavior, open windows would randomly minimize, etc. She's not tech savvy at all so I took a look.

Well, for starters, I found 19(!) Firefox tabs open, one Photoshop Express process running and two Canva processes running along with a few system windows open. The laptop has 32gb of DDR4 memory and it was pretty much consumed. The Windows Swap file was trying but it was about as effective as using a coffee cup to bail out the Titanic. Also, the battery was at 6%. SIX PERCENT. So I closed everything, plugged it in and restarted it. I asked her when the last time she restarted it and she said "Restart it? Uhhhhh, never?". All I could think of was this scene:

There was surprisingly little drop off. One day things just kinda go to E36 M3.

I have a graphic drawn up in AutoCAD, because I have enough familiarity with it to muddle through.  I am not a graphic artist.

I want to put said graphic to use via a print-on-demand service.

The service requires file format of SVG, PNG, or JPG.

The graphic requires a clear/transparent background.

There is no combination of layer turn-offing, purging, plotting, exporting, importing, web searching, easy-to-use software downloading, account-creating, email-verifying, tutorial-watching, drag-and-drop uploading, finger-crossing, cheek-clenching, break-taking, teeth-grinding, treachery, lechery, skullduggery, ass-scratchery, head-bangery, and general all-day fiddle-fudgery that will allow me to create a clean, sharp, usable image with a clear background in a file format that the service accepts.

IF YOU HAVE TO ALREADY BE A GRAPHIC ARTIST TO USE THE DAMN THING THEN JUST SAY SO RIGHT THE HELL UP FRONT.

I have this discussion as well. She has a moderately-aged Mac Mini and does only do things in OpenOffice and on the browsers- but she'll regularly have like 20 documents open in OO and about as many tabs and they all have to be open. I regularly remind her that even though it is a Mac and not as prone to needing to be rebooted frequently, it does need to both be updated and rebooted every so often- but I can rarely find a time when she doesn't have something in-work that can't be saved (usually in a grant portal on a browser) to be able to get her to reboot it. Heck- the Mini is old enough that it wouldn't be unreasonable to replace it with a newer one (I can't remember if hers is the last one before the M1 or the first with the M1) that has more memory and storage, but she's also paranoid about things having been changed in the OS and having to learn how to use it with those changes.

I'd think GIMP could do it fairly easily, but I'll admit it's been a long time since I've fired it up since I've been using Affinity's suite of programs instead of Adobe for a good while now. It is frustrating the requirements some places have for file types (and sizes/resolution) though- I'd say at least once a week I need to resize/format something that The Dancer has to submit for a grant or media submission.

Apparently GIMP is the go. I was grumbling about this at work this morning and a coworker, one of those darned millenials (he's 32), asked if he could take a crack at it. Sure enough, AutoCAD exported to PNG, then GIMP to select the background and make it transparent, export as PNG again, and away we go.

Now if I can fumble my way through changing colors in GIMP as opposed to AutoCAD, we'll really be making progress.

Ah, Marketplace people!  I always get such a hoot out of some of these folks...  I re-listed my motorhome today with a note that I had taken a deposit but after a month, the guy can't get the money together so it's back for sale again.  Somebody just messaged me:

"So are you going to adjust the price to reflect the deposit they left you a month ago?"

My response:  "Actually, I fully intend to give him his hundred bucks back once it sells. But if you're saying you're interested for $6,900, I think I can work with that as well!  I've got availability pretty much any time today or tomorrow to show the motorhome if you'd like to come by and take a look!"

Oh, I can't wait to see what response I get to that!

Update: Laptop is giving me a mild case of "lawnmower hands" with all the vibration. I may have a spare fan I can swap in, but if not, it will take another couple weeks to even get a replacement.

Update2: Finally opened it. The flex cable is even more trouble to change than it looks like, the LCD itself also has to come unglued from the screen frame, putting it back requires a special tape I don't have, so I just stress-releived the cable and it's been pretty solid since. Only spare fan I have is used and known to be noisy so I have to order fans, again.

My daughter got a very nice, slightly older point and shoot Sony cyber shot dsc-hx80

she put it in her pocket and went to the beach.  She doesn't realize how bad sand is for it but the motorized lens sure does

no camera place is interested in working on it so I, stuck in a hotel, bought a small screwdriver and spent 5.5 hours taking it apart and cleaning it.  So proud of myself for getting the lens apart and back together. Then I see that one of the several ribbon cables has torn in half....   ugh
