Well, once again I start talking to someone for a over a month, we go on a date and things are great, and then shortly after the topic of kids come up and they want them and things come to a screeching halt. All I hear about is how less and less people my age want kids and the birth rate is decreasing, etc. So where are all the other people that also don't want kids?
They are out there, my wife told me on our first date that " she didn't want to host a parasite for 9 months" lol
Actually we just had a discussion about all the people we know that don't want kids too.
I guess it depends on age range too?
My rant:
It's the first real snowfall of the year and the road crews have dropped the ball already. We gave 6 inches of snow and it's raining now, there are many trees down too.
My wife couldn't make it to work as there are 5 cars sprayed across the road sideways, in the ditch and over trees just outside our driveway
In reply to Antihero :
It's not the road crews' fault that drivers can be helpless idiots.

No it's not, but not plowing for 24 hours is. The snow fell yesterday

Power went out around 10pm Tues. Power Co estimates they won't have it back on again until Saturday. Ugh.

I've probably ranted about this before, but I'm a-gonna do it again... They send out this corporate communication that everybody has to register in the new payroll system by December 1st. Cool. Got it. Dec 1st is the deadline, make sure I'm registered in the system by then.
That deadline is over a week away and yet I've gotten three or four "Hey, you haven't done the thing yet! Go do the thing right away!" messages.
I'm now waiting until next Friday to do it, just on principle.

Our part of town got power back at 2:00 today. The neighborhoods on all sides surrounding ours stayed on. We got teased with power for all of 2 minutes before it went back out. Once again, we are powerless.
Massive layoffs at work yesterday.
Made it thru another round. Sometimes I wonder if I'd be better off if I was let go and just retire.
I'd probably get a full nights sleep then.
Isn't there a small part of you, when it's going good, that thinks everything will go completely to E36 M3?

I am so burned out. Work often enrages me. I barely have anything else going on in my life but I feel tired and numb on "my time". I am only 45 and I don't think I can make it another 20 years.

The weather is nice, I've got the materials to get the mini cabin in the dry, but...I'm just not into it right now.

It's almost 2025, why do I still have to see patches onto shirts? Why not sell them with iron on glue? Will super glue work?
I managed to borrow a sewing machine. After an hour of fixing around I'm still hand sewing.

For hockey referees, we have a new crest/patch every year, and often have multiple organizations for which we need to switch crests. The most common solution is Velcro, which often comes with stick on and then is sewed, but I have been seeing more and more use of magnets. Superglue a small name tag magnet to the uniform and the patch...
I, however, am a charlatan and use carpet tape. Seems to hold for approximately 2-3 years.
The pettiest, first-worldiest of problems today. Some turtlenecked nerdlinger brewed up a pot of French roast in the office rather than the much smoother, milder Othello that fully three-fourths of the office, per a recent whiteboard survey, prefers.

Because iron-on patches suck.
The glue makes them too stiff, so they don't flex with the shirt. And the glue isn't reliable, so when the shirt does flex, they peel off.

I actively hate this time of year, when I should like it.
It's always busy in preparation for the holidays, plus it seems like every client gets a raging boner to make sure their particular project gets done before the end of the year, even though it makes zero functional difference in the overall delivery.
I am always super stressed for the entire 6 weeks leading up to the holidays. It would have been nice to end my professional career without repeating this farce one more time, but apparently that's not going to happen. Of course.

back in 2008, my employer cut heads in 4 rounds of layoffs. when i heard the severance package for round 1 i said "berkeley, i'd take that!"
they let me go in round 3, the week before Thanksgiving. legitimately the best thing that ever happened to me, though i didn't see it that way at the time.
my buddy (the ER Doc) called to ask for engineering help on the Childo the first week in December 2008.

A friend got backstabbed out of a high-profile job. He was livid, because the guy who did the dirty deed was someone whom he'd brought into the company. They did give him a full years severance, during which time the Japanese company that he had worked for pulled out of the US market and everyone was sacked with no severance at all. He turned out to be the lucky one.

Got a ticket for the accident I was in last Thursday. Today is the answer date on the ticket. I kept forgetting to grab the ticket from the truck and go online to submit it.
CT's online system, put in the ticket number in one box and first three letters of your last name in another box.
I try 10 times between phone and desktop. No luck. Don't want to email it will get sorted too late. Don't really want to call either. Thankfully there is online chat.
I try that and he finds the ticket right away. Says it just needs to be processed by him then it will be available in the system in 30 minutes.
I right back nicely that I was surprised it wasn't already processed as this is the answer date of the ticket.

Wow, you are a rude person. Oh, you're a cop too? That isn't an excuse for your poor behavior. In fact, it makes it worse.
Ever move somebody out of an apartment and it's like they didn't know they were moving out that day? It's today.
me - map app says I'll be there at 9:07am.
them - I thought you said 9:30-10am?
me - okay, I'll sit in the Walmart parking lot and arrive at 9:30am
them - okay
