I do ignore people that come out the gate asking for my best price CaSh like I'm going to bid against myself though.

"What's your lowest price?"

"Make me an offer."

Its one of the downsides of the internet becoming more and more accessible.

Day 10ish (non-consecutively) for doing blue collar E36 M3 for white collar pay. Getting old. Reason I got out of it was not the pay.

At least my welds still look good?

Wow.  VW/Audi can take this belt tensioner setup they put on their 2.0 engine and just cram it right up their ass.

I'm trying to think of a situation (barring the extreme) where I would treat someone like E36 M3, but I'm coming up blank.

Its just as easy to politely decline.

just received a new chinesium tool at work (plastic cable conduit cutter), and the instructions actually include a step for deburring the parts before assembly. I've never seen that before. At least it's nice they're not pretending it's high quality.

And for the record, there were many burrs that needed to be removed. One was even painted over

Selling the $3999 Civic or any car I'm clear on the listing that it's "cash only".

Dude offers me 1/2 price and mentions he will pay in cash. I'm old school - cash into my hand.  Want to write me a check?

Boy howdy is technology grand! It's so convenient to order something from Amazon, they take 5 days and then deliver it to the next town, what a world we live in!

Yeah.....that was sarcasm. Amazon, delivery thru USPS sucks because I don't have a fireplace sized mailbox. UPS delivers to my door and I like buying things online that are delivered.....to my door. Wild I know

honestly, the last time i listed something for sale I debated even going to the trouble of adding a description because people don't read it anyways.

I usually finish the listening with "If you've read it this far, you are probably interested in what I'm selling. Please reply with banana in the title so I know you are."

It works surprisingly well.

Re: Selling car parts on Farcebook Marketplace

I removed a drop in bedliner from my Ram 1500 before I sold the truck, and attempted to sell it on FBM. It was in perfect condition. I took like 8 photos, including one of the manufacturer's sticker, which showed the exact make and model that it fit. I think I started at $100 and reduced it by $20 a week until it was free.

I didn't get any interest until it was free. But it was all stupid questions.

"I want it but will you deliver?"

"Will it fit my 2003 Chevy Silverado?"

Dozens of "Is it still available?" notifications with no followup response.

It met the same fate as your bumper cover:

It's kind of sad. You know there is a decent human being that would love to have it but connecting with them is damn near impossible because of the background noise.

That's one advantage of living on a cut-through residential street.

Anything that needs to be disposed of, I just tape a FREE sign to it and it disappears in 24 hours or less.

Longest thing that lasted was a 32" CRT television and that only took more than a day because someone had to come back with a buddy to help lift it.

Two years on from my father's death at the end of the month and still not dispositioned his house--which his will laid out as going to a designated charity.

Thought we were within striking distance last May, but found out that being the representative for my father's estate didn't also make the the rep for my mother's (deceased 2013).  Court lost that paperwork for 4 months, so that didn't get squared away until November.

New Mexico requires a septic inspection before transfer of property, and that's now failed, water pump has quite too.  And of course, rodents have moved in during the last two years.

And as a topper, just got a follow-up letter from the IRS to the letter from last August that the estate had over-paid taxes for 2023 (that could be worse).  The earlier letter said they should be sending a check out 4-6 weeks after 4-6 weeks.  The latest letter said the check should be coming in 6-8 weeks.

Anyone interested in squatting in an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere New Mexico?

What!??!!!? You're more committed than me, I would have rage quit and walked out after two hours.

One thing Connecticut kept after COVID time was all DMV transactions are by appointment now. Before you had to be there at the right time. Either get there an hour before opening to line up outside and have a short inside wait. Or just show up and your wait could be 1-2+ hours. Now you set up an appointment time. Show up, check in, and still wait. But now I'm usually out in 30 minutes.

Truck caps and bedliners, you can't even give them away around here, it's been that way for 30 years.

I bought a new bike and called my insurance to see if it's even possible to insure it for off road use. Got passed on to the specialist. I don't know, he said, I'll get back to you. That was last week.

I call this morning, get a different girl. I'll send you a form, fill that out and I can give you a quote. No, I want an answer right now if you can even insure it. After some argument she agrees to pass me on to the specialist. I wait. She tells me, oh the reason he didn't call you back was that he needed more information on the bike so we could give you an answer. We didn't have that information.

I know who might have that information...

The bike has a problem. The service manager isn't calling me back either. Maybe he needs more information too.

Apparently that word has some other meaning of which I am unaware.

All told, it took over SIX hours.  I had to have my wife leave work and sit with her so I could run back home to do an interview.

You'll need to log in to post.
