Yeah. There is absolutely no legitimate reason for Chevrolet Bolt to be rolling on 215/50R17s.
Fashion sucks.

I LoL'd at "new and exciting geometrical shapes".
Given the state of the local tarmac, I am rather surprised at anybody's willingness to drive a normal car with an ultra-low profile tire.

This is one of the reasons I run Falken AT tires on the Touareg. They have a stronger carcass with more sidewall and ride better over the potholes and crappy paving.
Almost exactly 50 years ago, I knocked my front teeth out in a dirt bike accident. The dentist root canaled them, set posts, and capped them.
The foundation work was good enough that it has outlived several caps... Until last week.
I was getting a routine cleaning and the hygienist got a little enthusiastic and popped one of the caps off. Had zero issues with it before that. No biggie, my usual dentist is on duty; he'll just re-cement it.
Except that in the middle of doing so, he suddenly decided to bear down like Almighty Bob on the curing cement.
So all last week it was sore, and over the weekend, it came loose again.
Went in this morning to get it recemented again, but it turns out he cracked the root. No way to tighten it up and make it stop aching, even temporarily. My only real option is to get an implant.
So I'm pissed he damaged something that would have probably lasted the rest of my life, and it's going to a long, expensive process to fix.
I'm also preparing to be more pissed when he charges me full price for something he broke.
Mother.
berkeleying.

All day yesterday I sat around and waited for the brake caliper for the Saab so I can get it on the road so I don't have to drive the Miata in the rain. But they never bothered to show up.
Today, they rolled in early in the afternoon and then, despite the sign on the door telling them to just leave the damned package, failed to deliver.
After having a discussion with their customer "support", he has promised me 100% that the package will get dropped off today.
I don't believe a word of it.

Okay, well, credit where credit is due.
The driver called me, verified where the actual door was located, and just now I saw this:
I thought something was going wrong with my clutch on my drive home after lunch. The pedal just felt weird/off. Hard to describe. When I got home I discovered the largest, stickiest, wad of gum on the bottom of my shoe. Turns out my shoe was simply sticking to the clutch pedal a little bit. I must have stepped in the gum just as I was getting into the car. I am relieved it's not a "real problem" but now I have a disgusting mess to deal with.
So, it's been reasonably warm for a while now- not too hot (most of the time) but not getting down into near freezing any more either. In other words, pretty much the perfect temps to be out driving the convertible. But I've not had it out to drive for like a month now. Why? It keeps raining every few days- there's a good chance that it's going to start doing so shortly actually- and since the top doesn't always seal properly, it's best to have it under the portable carport when it rains instead of sitting out uncovered. And it takes 5-6 minutes to swap cars around even when it's just the Infiniti blocking it in- probably closer to 10 if the truck is also in the driveway. So far too often, it just doesn't make sense to lose that time to drive it. And when I do have the time and think it's worth it- it's usually either raining (or about to) like it is right now. -_-

I feel that. The Miata is presently in the side yard up a small hill. If the ground is at all soft, I'll destroy the yard driving it in and out of there. Really need to get the challenge project running, and maybe clean out the garage enough for a second car.
I'm down >22lbs since Feb 3rd (started at 232), but have been stalled the past few weeks and actually went up almost 2 lbs in the last 10 days. Body comp scale says muscles mass been steady since the start and fats dropping in sync with weight
Tracking food, 3 weeks into 1.0mg step of compounded semaglutide (11 weeks total), and adding more exercise.
Started with walking and was adding in weights, but getting to the gym has been a challenge the last few weeks so I've walking 2-3 miles 3+ days per week. This week I've been incorporating running into the walks on days I work from home.
I know it's going to take time to reverse years of bad habits, and I feel better, clothes fit better and the transition to running is because walking no longer raised my heart rate enough to get into the aerobic zone.
But...
I want to see the scale move in the right direction.
In reply to No Time :
Keep it up. That's a lot of progress in a short amount of time. It took me about 6 months to lose 25 lbs from 195 to 170. And that was with dieting and pretty intense exercise (I'm a runner). My advice is to step on the scale every single day even if you're not in weight loss mode. It's crazy how I can go from 174 on Monday to 171 on Friday.
My rant: I've been going to Y-Princess camp with my daughters, 3 times a year, for 7 years now. We go fall, winter, and spring. Of those 21ish campouts, I've been sick at least half of them. Usually it's just a cold. This weekend is our last ever camp out. And you guessed it. Tuesday night my throat got scratchy and I've felt terrible the last few days. Yay! I get to be sick this weekend again!
We are sick in my house from September to May thanks to the endless germs that get brought home from school.
In reply to Scotty Con Queso :
Hopefully you feel a bit better than yesterday in preparation for the camp out.
Thanks for the feedback. I tend to be results driven, so I look for measurable progress, which sometimes isn't the best way to judge.
I do need to get more consistent with the exercise, and prioritize making it happen. The improvement in BP and VO2 max are things trending in the right direction even if the scale has slowed down
As you said it's been a short period and if I look at a longer time period the last two weeks are just a pause as things stabilize.
I typed up what I thought was a very funny reply in a post a while back.
I was certain that I'd make Say What.
The new issues arrives and my comment isn't in it. I guess my family and friends are right about me not being as funny as I think that I am.

Six kids in my family - kinda split three older and three younger. Dad got involved with that program with my three younger siblings.
Me a stoner teenager when 10 dudes show up in leather vests with their kids and hold a meeting in my dads family room. Crazy memories.

Nope! You may or may not be funny, but you jinxed yourself by even thinking about That Column Which Shall Remain Nameless.

I've been chosen. Twice in one month, which I thinknmight be some kind of record. Just say stuff. I said everything that was picked because I thought it was funny. Not because I hoped someone thought it was funny.
Sigh. Another very mild thunderstorm- nothing like last weekend's - and of course the power is out the moment I want to make dinner.
I spent way too long on a post then realized that I posted it in the wrong thread. And deleted it before I thought of copying it. It's been a long day.
When pulling up to a light, please don't stop in the cross walk. Please. Even if you plan on turning right on red, check and make sure nobody is going to use the crosswalk. But if you have to wait, there's zero reason to go beyond the stop line and continue into the crosswalk None, nada, not a good reason- just don't. I know it may amaze some drivers out there, but people still walk. Sometime for fitness, sometimes to not walk, sometimes both at the same time. Don't be a stupid driver and stop in the cross walk.
In reply to alfadriver :
I watched a pedestrian haul off and kick the E36 M3 out of a VW in downtown Berlin. It was half way on the crosswalk . They take encroachment VERY seriously in Germany, so I imagine the bad driver just sat there and took the beating, glad the law wasn't involved.
Today I found out the hard way that some cars have the tone ring for the ABS built into the wheel bearing, and if you install it with the wrong side facing out, it won't align with the sensor.
i guess I get to redo the wheel bearing
