As for airconditioning... I am still wearing my fleece at work as the casino is far too cold for my blood.

and speaking of casinos. Spent the last two days removing all the instruments out of the ceiling in the new closed nightclub at the Borgata.

A: the guy in charge evidently did no maintenance as everything in an inch of stick dust..

B: he's quite the thief, a lot of equipment we all thought went missing was up in that ceiling.

C: I hope my co-workers appreciate that I took all the heavy lights out for them. All I left behind was the wiring.

Do not slip and grab the hot end of a 660F soldering iron with your thumb. It will hurt and you will feel very very stupid. Also do not flick it out of your hand and then break about 1/4 of your thumbs fingernail back into the bed.

I am bleeding and slightly burned. berkeley.

We are in the middle of a heat wave and now the kids choose to start leaving the back door open. And it seems the more I remind them to keep it closed, the more they leave it open. The other day I just locked the deadbolt but that didn't go well with the spousal unit. Fine, when the power bill comes in and I lay the budget smackdown we'll see what happens.

When my kids forget a lot I start cruel and unusual punishment. They can no longer open any doors. They have to ask their siblings to open it and close it for them.

It works well.

That's amazing.

Obligatory rant:
Bought a transmission for my subaru last night.
Transmission came with a crappy car around it.
Girl I bought it from texted me last night, she'd forgotten that it had been totalled two years ago from a rear end hit.
Doesn't effect what I need it for, might effect how easy getting it into my name will be.
Oh, and driving it home may have been illegal.
How do people forget things like that?

I bought a car once without seeing it in person. The person "forgot" to take pictures of the other side, which hadn't been washed for pictures and had a lot of body damage on the rear quarter. Never. Again.

(Yes, I should have known better, but it was a $500 car and I learned my lesson now.)

I spent the last two weeks running (well, OK I'll be more accurate- hobbling slightly and getting closer to looking like I was just walking) around Europe and around the cruise ship, and progressively the swelling in my injured ankle had been improving. Yet, I get back home and am generally walking around less on it and sitting more at my desk at work- and the swelling seems to be worse over the last few days.

If you end up with a massive blister where it's burnt, go visit your doctor who should refer you to a local burn center. They will treat you so well that you will not have a scar at all. My left palm thanks modern developments in burn treatments- even if the treatment was painful to the point of crying every day. In the end, it's very, very worth it.

(I grabbed the hot end of a punti when blowing glass- no idea how hot it was)

If I get lazy and not walk very often or very far my repaired Achilles will get tender and swell. Stretching in bed and 5 to 10 minutes walking before breakfast seems to help start the day right.

Yeah, I've been doing some googling about it and it seems that ironically having been walking around on it so much may actually be better for it than the sitting that I do most of the day at work. Going to be trying a few other things too, like tracking better how much water I'm drinking (counterintuitively, not drinking enough water apparently contributes to swelling...).

I'm hoping this weekend to test out and see how confident I am with getting back on my bike to pedal to and from work again. The Ortho told me that I just needed to be smart about doing it and that my body would make sure I didn't overdo it if I paid attention (though I'm not supposed to use my clip shoes for a while).

Burn is not so bad today no doc needed for this one, I was fast. but the thumb is leaking blood right under the edge of the nail. I can already tell its going to pop off at some point.

Will have the doc look at in in a week or so when they are cutting the lesions off my head from the stupid precancerous growths again. Being 35 is not all its cracked up to be at this point, hell of a year.

That reminds me: If you ever think to yourself, "Gosh, I'm out of oven safe dishes and I really need something with a solid cover. I wonder, I guess, sure, why don't I just use this saucepan with the metal lid? That's fine, I'll just remember that the handle is hot, which it wouldn't normally be on the stove, and it will work out great."

STOP. Because it WON'T work out great. It will burn you when your stupid ass grabs the handle to get it out of the oven. Worst yet, when you eventually get it to the stovetop, and grab the oven mitt, you'll STILL use the bare hand to spin the stupid thing around so the handle isn't facing out. Seriously, my thought was "That hot handle should absolutely not be hanging off the end of the stove, let me just grab it and spin it around real quick".

OK, I'm done with this week.

Monday. Transmission failure in one of my work trucks. $1500. Should have it back Friday.

Tuesday. 100+ degrees and working outside all day.

Wednesday. My son pulls into the office parking lot in the E150 he's driving because of the transmission repair. Puts the van in park and the drivers airbag deploys. He's at the urgent care place now, with a possible ruptured ear drum.

I would like to take the rest of the month off. Thanks, bye...

Really wanted to be in Charleston by now but here we be. It's a damn 2 hr one way drive. Wanted to get over to Hominy Grill for some shrimp and grits for breakfast. Nope someone else thinks that's a good idea for dinner, which is a bad idea. Grrrr.
