Uh... The worst traffic where you live is in Henderson. I hear my cousins complain about it all the time. I drive through Henderson through its supposed rush hour, and am through it before I realize it has started.

Try driving through Champaign when half of Chicago is moving into the dorms on top of all the construction in a stick shift. Or better yet, try driving through Chicago and find out what it is like to move 50 miles in 3 hours.

Done it. Don't mind it... Henderson is a 15 minute drive on a bad day I worked there for 4 years. Try Dallas at 515 pm and you might get the worst traffic I've hit in a manual. 95. Pulling a load bumper to bumper. I'd rather have true control in a manual than no control in an auto. Cinci is rough, Detroit Is tough because of the signage is so bad. Chicago is pretty rough during construction. I drove my first auto after I turned 18... When I was 16 a manual in Bowling Green after the races but I mean, you just have to have the right mind set in a stick. When my back hurts it is rough... My fiancée got the 3spd Metropolitan through Nashville with a top speed of 60 because my back was hurt at work. My friend made it through BG. Loaded with a seized clutch by killing the truck and cranking it in first at every light and dry shifting. He is the toughest sob I know in a manual. I want no part of that.

I've never had any trouble with Detroit signage, or traffic, just drive something with more than 100hp/ton that can handle and take a bump, stay ahead of everybody else. You get used the chaos eventually and it works.

I've driven a 4 speed Yugo fully loaded with people and tools in the woodward dream cruise with a incorrectly connected vacuum advance (NO power under 2k rpm). I drove it on the Lodge(M-10) that way too. If you wanna brag about such things.

people who are so oblivious of their cars that they don't notice a weird noise (like the worst wheel bearing I've ever seen in my life) until it's waaaay beyond fixable.
It was a pressed-in bearing and hub assembly, rather than a bolt in, so I tried to get it out with the E36 M3ty press we have at the shop. It budged, a little, but other than that it did nothing. One of the tire techs took it to another of our stores to see if they could get it out, they broke the spindle!
I went on lunch when he took it to the other store (probably 4pm, got there at 7am lol) and I was in the break room for probably ten minutes when my boss came in and frantically asked me if I could go get a spindle/steering knuckle assy/whatever from a junkyard (30 min away+, which closed in about 50 minutes)
So I didn't finish my lunch, just jumped up and got under way. finally got there and they had pulled a non abs spindle, the car we were working on has ABS.
Got the right part and finally got it back together, happy ending.
But I can't help feeling that if she paid attention to her POS Focus, we would have caught the wheel bearing noise earlier and been able to press the bearing and hub out and not went through all this BS.

My bad attitude has become apparent to my family and my fiancée.

Clearly I have realized I'm not happy lately. It seems like everybody wants to have a sit down chat about my mood, then ask for favors and money.... Nobody can put two and two together, I'm dry financially and emotionally.

I'm not mad at them as people, just the situations they put me in. I need to have a signage made that states, F-off I'm broke and I work 60 hours a week to pay off your debt you can't pay. Please go away, but I can't afford the paper the sign would be written on.

As big as this site is I've had 3 likes on my Car which is going in the garage tomorrow and 3 likes on the truck which I exploded the trans in last race I went to, kinda sad for something I consider original.... However I was recently informed that my vehicle obsession should calm down so that I can loan more money, rather than have a car that runs. F-me F-my attitude and people that cause it. Also F-overtime taxes.

I've been interested in going to the local CC to get a welding certification for some time now. Mr. Bossman is down with it. Education Reimbursement rules are in place, and I would qualify for their program. The only classes are in the middle of my shift. Mr. Bossman's Mr. Bigger-Bossman is adamant on 40+ hours a week from me and there is no chance of me swapping shifts. How am I supposed to further my education (which is something they have approached me about in the past) without even a little leeway from the higher ups?

Seriously, I'm asking for nine months of flexibility. I'm more than willing to make up lost time; do you really need to kill the idea on the spot? It seems like it's the only decision that's been made recently that didn't require seven different committees on three different continents.

You are not your family's keeper. The family and Fiancee need to learn that. If they don't, maybe you need to find a new girl, because they are just going to kill you as surely as the Goose that Laid the golden eggs

Guys selling high end classic cars get your E36 M3 together. When its over 100K expect someone like me to come out before the deal gets done to confirm the car is actually in person as you say it is.

When I call you for a client who wants a #1.5 car and you tell me its a #1.5 or better car, then I drive 2 hours to do the deal and the car is a #3.5 or a #4 and I find out the the photos were taken last year before the car was stored wrong or at a angle to hide your janky ass crap. I am going to be pissed, I am out 4 hours of driving time. My clients out 300$ plus for me to go and confirm the car and you look like a gigantic tool.

Don't get all up in my face for killing your good deal, Its my job to kill your deal if you lied and you did.

I seem to remember this being tried in 1999-2000. There were a couple of websites. I think one was run by Kroger.

Check your local grocery stores. Piggly Wiggly, around here, has an online order site. You place your order, they pull it, you pick it up in an hour or so. No wandering around the store looking for stuff or dealing with the mindless drones.

Because I have. But on the flip side, I've seen some serious, uh ...scenery on a hot summer day that wasn't intended to be seen. People don't realize we can see down into their cars.

Hey, shopper, guess what? When you see me pulling a big ol' pallet toward your cart, don't just grab the front end with the castors and pull it toward you 6 inches. The back half didn't move. Now I have to let the pallet run me over to keep it from running your inconsiderate ass over.

I'll bet you drive just as well.

I would like to rant against the guy driving an 18wheeler today. I was -not- trying to pass you when I put on my signal. I was pulling into the turning lane to take a different road. you did -not- need to hit the brakes and swerve half out of your lane to keep me behind you.

On that same note, I would like to give special mention to the girl in the Santa Fe that irritated said truck driver. When you have a mile before the two lanes merge into one, you should have plenty of room to complete your pass and not make the semi slow down so as not to punt you off into the woods

People who cant figure out preserving old E36 M3 can die in an electrical fire from using 30 amp fuses with 14 gauge wiring. Somebody painted over the nice 1928 Crane porcelain sink in my apartment, with 3 coats of latex paint. It was clear it had been poorly refinished and far more obvious they did a E36 M3 job once my OCD about peeling things kicked in and I took most of it off with my fingernail.

At least they didn't paint over the hardwood floors and doors.

Dear Self,

Please, oh please will you learn to tell people with their 1975/84/90 Camaro/Datsun/Volvo, that what they think is easy and will only take a couple of hours, is not easy at all, it will cost somewhere on the high side of eight times more than they are counting on, and to please just berkeley off with their worthless, worn out old high school car.

Alternately, as you are listening, you could just open your wallet and start burning hundred dollar bills, because that's whats gonna happen if you follow these people down their rabbit hole.

Sincerely, Yourself.

I've been wanting a friend of my Fiancées car for some time, for a work car. It's wrecked.

I literally have 2 cars, 2 trucks and 3 lawnmowers in line behind the shop with jobs ranging from complete restoration, exhaust installation, transmission swap to engine replacement. I have been working 55+ hrs a week.

My fiancées friends new non wrecked car had a steering failure. She volunteered me to fix it if the girl will take 400 for the wrecked car I wanted.... When?! How?!

Actually N/M my fiancée is awesome for doing that! This is the least side jobs I've had lined up in 6 months. I'm soo glad she was quick enough to pounce on a simple PS pump and get me another car!!

The real rant here I suppose is that I keep calling my 'FIANCÉE' my GF even when I type on here and she's not impressed when I introduce her... Especially at my recent family reunion.

You'll need to log in to post.
