Wow! I feel like I got to know him from the Zoom calls. Definitely someone I would have enjoyed to sit down with. I too really enjoyed what he wrote.
I am reminded that I have OdoBan products in my house directly related to his influence.
Maybe it's not "proper" to ask such thing but what took him out? He was an off road cyclist. God, I hope he wasn't run down by a car! He was a boater but I don't suspect that was his demise. I really hope it wasn't the pandemic de'jour.
The video from his co-workers was amazingly touching!
Here is some GRM legacy from better days! With the bike in the background, I'll bet this was filmed at his own house.

I can't say for sure, but I think Bravenrace just decided to take a break for a while.
Well, yeah, now I'm paranoid. There are a bunch of folks who I just assumed had moved on to different forums. Now I'm worried that it was more than that.
We don't have a perfect system for this but with some searching, this thread started Aug 6, 2021 seems to be the last thread he stated here on GRM
https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/boat-trippin/185621/page1/
Posted Aug 6, 2021 and Obituary states he passed Sept 15, 2021 just 5 .5 weeks later.
The thread is about picking up a new boat and ends with this picture:
Damn.
We should start the zoom meets again. Especially in these times, I think it would do our community some good.

That's terrible news.
I was reading Donebrokeits thread and saw the note about UltraClyde. Have you all noticed others that haven't been around much that have you worried? I haven't looked yet but haven't seen much of Mezzanine though I don't think that's too uncommon.
Terrible news indeed. My condolences to his family and loved ones.
Craig / Mezzanine is alive and well, albeit very busy from the sounds of it.

August 15, 2021, not September. 1 week and 2 days after he and his wife bought the boat.
I wasn't able to find the cause of death, but based on the suddeness of it and the family's suggestion of donations to the American Heart Association, I'm guessing heart attack.

I was about to make an "mndsm, you out there?" thread because I hadn't seen him post in a while. He seems to be made of the same E36 M3 magnet I am, and I was worried it finally found him.

Eerie: In that thread I posted, you might see that the last posting was from Aug 28 and it is Grover wondering if anyone has seen UltraClyde. An interesting testament to noticing the lack of the UltraClyde presence.

He's just taking a break from here for a bit. Things are looking up for him at least.

This may be one of the saddest pictures I've ever seen posted here.
He was SO excited for that godforsaken boat :( I followed that thread and the prior one closely.
Here's a helpful link to all the Dave - OdoBan videos. The last one was posted just 5 days before he passed away.
https://www.youtube.com/c/OdoBan/videos
It's a pretty amazing legacy to have all this footage of Dave in action!
Also, not that it matters in the least, but I did some very superficial digging because I was curious, and it was not a covid-related death... Again, doesn't matter in the least- I just didn't want people to go to the obvious assumption.
RIP... He will be missed greatly.

Thanks for checking. Glad to hear.
I wish it never happened but since it did, I hope is was quick/swift and he never saw it coming. That's all I hope for myself too.
Damn that sucks so much. He seemed like such a great guy.

I have a bottle in each car due to him as well.

I'm not dead. I got fired for organizing all of the employees against the ownership and using my leverage to try and make my work not E36 M3. I found some extra change in my couch cushions so I'm not worried. Just seemed like a lot of negativity going around and I'm not feeling it.
He was a regular contributor to the Grassroots Pedalsports thread and always had good insight and advice over there. I definitely missed him posting there and when his name popped up in the Donebrokeit thread I was worried for him.
I've been off the bike since early November having popped my shoulder out on a mtb ride but I'll make a point to turn over the pedals in his honour in the coming week. I hope his family is managing with the loss, it's not easy.
I'll say this much.... I'm putting my login credentials for GRM in my will. If I evaporate or otherwise die, I'm having my next of kin log in to tell you all I'm worm food.
Damn. That's two too many, too soon and too close together.
I hope their families are coping as well as possible.
And everyone take care of yourselves.

That is a wonderful sentiment.
I'm going to take the Trek out today in honor of Dave. And try my best to do so every day I am still able to.

I don't know you that well, but I know you well enough that this scenario is 100% a mndsm move. Good on ya.
Damn, this makes me sad. Dave was a frequent participant on the GRM chats and was always a positive and calm element. He had a great laugh and obviously a great perspective on the world. As was pointed out by his co-workers (what an amazing video. I mean, have you ever seen a company do this?), Dave had an amazing knowledge base and just loved to be helpful. Reading through his obit, this thread, and some of his other threads, there was so much about him I didn't know and that we had in common.
I checked the calendar and the last GRM chat was on September 2nd, after he was gone. IIRC, he had never been to the Challenge, but had talked about maybe trying to attend. I missed him on that call and will definitely miss his presence here. My utmost condolences to his family for their loss. His was a bright light lost far, far too soon.
