This past weekend there was bit of a storm in Seattle, not terrible, but enough to have 300K people without power across the region and 59MPH gusts recorded at SEATAC.
Wash. State operates the largest ferry system in the world, some people take them everyday for commuting or even to go to school on other islands.
This past sunday one trip got a little more than they bargained for:

Ohhh, I think I can see that truck rusting by the end of the clip!
Someone needs to do a COMPLETE all over wash on those cars.
Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope nope
I'll stick to the 10 minute lake Champlain ferry on nice days only, thanks
Oh berkeley me, mate!
Just a big ol' ferry of berkeleying NOPE!
berkeley ALL of that! No way in a million years would I ever be on that ferry.
Come on guys, it wasn't even listing yet. That wasn't really that bad.
And they ain't small boats.

If I had to take a boat to school I'd have gone even less.
Is the salt water going to do more damage than all the vomit?

My old boss commuted from Bainbridge Island to Seattle every day. 45 minutes on the ferry is awesome inthe summer, they sell beer onboard. 45 minutes in the rain in a storm.. not so awesome.
I'd probably piss myself. I've been in a lake on a sailboat when a waters pout touched down in the opposite end. I pissed myself then as the boat capsized, and the water in the video looked even more violent.
I will say adding to the mind berkeleying fear is the fact that I can't swim. Can barely tread water.

I worked at the Manhattan terminal of the Staten Island Ferry for a couple years. In the morning rush I had to make sure a bus was waiting for each boat to come, herd the people in and send it off. I can probably count on one hand the number of people that were regularly in a good mood.
I saw that the other day. The ferry captain was in an awful hurry for those kind of seas. I know they have a schedule to keep, but beating the hell out of your ship and cargo doesn't seem like a good idea. I'd be expecting them to pay damages if that was my vehicle.

Those ferries move fast. Surprisingly so. The storm was that bad though.

I thought that was just New Yorkers in general.

I'll take the bridge, but then I'm a little further south.

Speaking of bridges. The wind was so bad they closed the Tacoma narrows bridge because a semi flipped. From the wind.

Growing up I had to ride that ferry ofen, but on another route. That was a bit rougher than usual.
Also I hate it when people set their alarms on the ferry!
Really? That's "bad?" You guys sound like a bunch of Sallys, and I'm no boat guy.

Well, at least it didn't do what the last one did.

I'm told the new Tacoma Narrows bridge is the most over-engineered bridge in the world. Nobody wanted to be responsible for the SECOND one coming down. :)
Where was the big wave?
I've been on that ferry before. I use to be stationed at the Coast Guard unit in Bellingham. Part of our job was escorting those beasts around the islands. The passes up there can do some real interesting things to the waves.
Fun fact, those waves are big enough to close the CG station, so you better not fall over board!
That car is going to get totaled with flood damage.
