Was loving re-watching Miami Vice before they pulled or from Netflix. Just re-watched Rain Man and Scare face and loved those. What else shows off 80’s cars, fashion and excess to such great effect? Particularly love the over the top seedy side of Miami from Scarface and Miami Vice.
I’m not talking slapstick like National Lampoon or even the epic Blues Brothers, although they are both obviously great in their own way. I guess there’s Top Gun, but what else shows of the car, culture and music I grew up wanting to be as a teenager?

Not quite what you are asking, but I just watched Lethal Weapon last week, and while I wouldn't say it made me nostalgic, the world depicted was very clearly a different place. Little details really stuck out. things like a "vintage" pepsi can, or a comically huge cell phone thing.
Adventureland because it was filmed nearby and 2 of my friends cars can be seen in it, a black e30 and a silver 84 GTI. But it focuses more on working at an amusement park in the 80s than the cars.

While released in '90, the original ninja turtles movie illustrated a pre-Guliani NYC.
Fast times at ridgemont high.
Better off dead.
Pretty woman. Yes, I said it.
What you want are not movies about the 80's made later (like Kung Fury), but any that are about anything else and happen to have people, clothes and music in them. When Harry Met Sally, for example. That's how normal people dressed. Miami Vice was stylized when it was new, it actually drove fashion.
And I'm gonna second the John Hughes suggestion.
Probably the last decade when just about every genre had a standout, before homogenized, serialized, blockbusting movies were the only options. Great stuff already mentioned. Also (edited to correct some anachronisms):
Uber '80s::
Less Than Zero
'80s futuristic(because sometimes a decade reveals itself best when it tries to go somewhere else)
Bladerunner
The Last Starfighter
'80s bring lawyers, guns and money:
Blues Brothers
Scarface
'80s kids are alright:
Goonies
'80s noir:
Body Heat
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
'80s horror:
Poltergeist
Motel Hell (just do it)
Strong thread of zero-berkeleys and drug-enhanced balls running through almost all these choices. Not entirely a bad thing.

Agree with all that's been mentioned. Going to second Repo Man. Man, I enjoyed that movie.
I always thought the first Terminator movie was very 80s
I hate to call someone out but Clueless is very much a 90's movie.
I'll add, The Lost Boys and Romancing the Stone.

Damn, you're right. I wondered why no one has mentioned it. :(
