I need a new seat bottom cushion and cover for one of the cars in our fleet and I got a notification yesterday for a new arrival at the local pull-a-part.

I went out there today and could only remove two of the seat bolts because of the position of the seat (on the rails). The seat had clearly absorbed a few rain showers so it wasn't worth taking anyway - but I do wonder what's the best way to briefly power something to run the various electric motors.

Does Milwaukee have an M12 tool that'll stand in for a car whose battery has been removed? Or maybe a lithium battery jump box?

WWGRMD?

One of those should work if it is 12 volt. I use my Bosch impact battery to roll up and down car windows. You would need some jumper wires to pull it off

Battery from a power tool, wire it to the fuse that powers the seat. Positive to the fuse, negative grounded somewhere on the car. Should be ok even if its an 18v battery.

Just make sure you power the correct leg of the fuse, if it does not work, try the other leg.

I was thinking about trying to connect something under the hood but I like this a lot better.

I need to go google and see if there is already something "off the shelf".. Otherwise I guess taking apart something like an M12 flashlight and soldering in some voltmeter clips and test light probes would be a fun project.
